ord-lookup

ord-lookup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from batteryshark/rekit. It costs 55 tokens per session (412 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A static reference tool that turns numbered Windows DLL imports, called ordinal imports, into readable exported function names. Its built-in database covers ws2_32.dll and oleaut32.dll.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to resolve one ordinal, list all known ordinals for a supported DLL, or produce JSON for another analysis tool. It reads no input sample and runs no target program.
Why use it?
Some Windows programs identify imported functions only by number, which makes reverse engineering harder. This replaces known numbers with names and gives a generated label when no match is known.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.00412
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00206
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00041

Security

Grade A, and why

ord-lookup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/run.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

ord-lookup — Ordinal Import Resolver

Resolve Windows DLL ordinal imports to their exported symbol names from a vendored static database. Stripped or by-ordinal imports (common in packed/malware binaries and DLLs linked without symbolic info) become readable.

Pure static lookup — reads no sample, runs no target.

Covered DLLs

DLL Entries Notes
ws2_32.dll 117 Winsock; wsock32 and mswsock are aliased here
oleaut32.dll 398 OLE Automation

Usage

# resolve a single ordinal
rekit run ord-lookup ws2_32 1 # accept
rekit run ord-lookup oleaut32.dll 7 # SysStringLen

# dump every ordinal for a DLL
rekit run ord-lookup ws2_32 --all

# list known DLLs
rekit run ord-lookup --list

# JSON output (for agent consumption)
rekit run ord-lookup ws2_32 16 --format json
# {"dll":"ws2_32.dll","ordinal":16,"name":"recv","known":true}

When an ordinal isn't in the database, the runner falls back to a synthetic ord<N> name (so an import table is never left with a bare number). known:false in JSON marks these synthetic fallbacks.

The lookup table lives at assets/ordinals.json; wsock32 and mswsock reuse the ws2_32 entries instead of duplicating them.

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ord-lookup is a skill published in the GitHub repository batteryshark/rekit (13 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 55 tokens to every session and 412 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
