ddd-tactical-patterns

ddd-tactical-patterns is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from beel-collab/presets.dev. It costs 25 tokens per session (345 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A coding guide for Domain-Driven Design, a way to shape software around the rules and concepts of a business area. It covers entities with identity, value objects, grouped aggregates, repositories for storage, and domain events for important changes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Turning domain rules into code, designing aggregate boundaries, making models carry their own behavior, defining repository interfaces, and emitting events when meaningful transitions occur.
Why use it?
It helps keep business rules in the objects that own them, preserve required conditions, and define clear boundaries for data access and state changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00025 $0.00345
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00172
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00069
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00034

Security

Grade A, and why

ddd-tactical-patterns scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

DDD Tactical Patterns

Use this skill when

  • Translating domain rules into code structures.
  • Designing aggregate boundaries and invariants.
  • Refactoring an anemic model into behavior-rich domain objects.
  • Defining repository contracts and domain event boundaries.

Do not use this skill when

  • You are still defining strategic boundaries.
  • The task is only API documentation or UI layout.
  • Full DDD complexity is not justified.

Instructions

  1. Identify invariants first and design aggregates around them.
  2. Model immutable value objects for validated concepts.
  3. Keep domain behavior in domain objects, not controllers.
  4. Emit domain events for meaningful state transitions.
  5. Keep repositories at aggregate root boundaries.

If detailed checklists are needed, open references/tactical-checklist.md.

Example

class Order {
  private status: "draft" | "submitted" = "draft";

  submit(itemsCount: number): void {
    if (itemsCount === 0) throw new Error("Order cannot be submitted empty");
    if (this.status !== "draft") throw new Error("Order already submitted");
    this.status = "submitted";
  }
}

Limitations

  • This skill does not define deployment architecture.
  • It does not choose databases or transport protocols.
  • It should be paired with testing patterns for invariant coverage.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ddd-tactical-patterns is a skill published in the GitHub repository beel-collab/presets.dev (2 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 25 tokens to every session and 345 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
