interview-prep

interview-prep is a skill for Claude Code from benskamps/career-compass-mcp. It costs 27 tokens per session (279 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An interview-preparation guide that creates likely questions, answers based on your real work using the STAR format, and questions to ask the employer. STAR means describing a Situation, Task, Action, and Result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare for recruiter screens, hiring-manager interviews, panels, or final rounds, then record what happened and capture lessons afterward.
Why use it?
It helps you prepare specific evidence without inventing stories or relying on vague answers. It also adapts preparation to the interview round when that information is available.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00279
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00112
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

interview-prep scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

The user wants to prepare for an interview. Details they gave are below.

  • If the company or role is missing, ask for it, plus the round (recruiter screen, hiring manager, panel, final) if they know it.
  • If the Career Compass tools are available, use prepare_interview. If the application is in the pipeline and this is a later round, use interview_arc as well. Offer to record the round with pipeline_update.
  • If the tools are not available, follow "Doing the work without the tools" in the career-compass skill, asking for a résumé if you have nothing of theirs.

Never invent stories. Use their saved stories first, word for word, skipping any that usedWith shows this interviewer has already heard; draw new STAR stories only from their real history, ask when you need a detail, and offer to save the new ones. After the interview, offer a debrief (the debrief skill; in chat, they just ask).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
