security-audit is a skill for Claude Code from berkcangumusisik/claude-code-practices. It costs 21 tokens per session (329 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A security audit for code that checks files and directories for common weaknesses, including broken access controls, injection risks, exposed secrets, and unsafe settings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review application code against the OWASP Top 10, then organise findings by urgency.
Why use it?

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00021 $0.00329
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00164
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

security-audit scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Runs shell commandslowCapability

Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.

What it actually says

Security Audit

Target: $1 (or entire src/ if not specified)

Check for each OWASP Top 10 category:

A01 - Broken Access Control

  • Routes missing auth middleware
  • Direct object references without ownership check
  • Admin endpoints without role check

A02 - Cryptographic Failures

  • Hardcoded secrets or keys
  • Weak hashing (MD5, SHA1 for passwords)
  • HTTP instead of HTTPS for sensitive data
  • Sensitive data stored in localStorage

A03 - Injection

  • SQL string concatenation (not parameterized queries)
  • Unsanitized input passed to eval(), exec(), child_process
  • Template injection risks

A04 - Insecure Design

  • Missing rate limiting on auth endpoints
  • No account lockout after failed attempts

A05 - Security Misconfiguration

  • Debug mode enabled in production
  • Overly permissive CORS (*)
  • Default credentials

A07 - Auth & Session Failures

  • Weak JWT validation
  • Missing token expiry
  • Session not invalidated on logout

Report findings as:

  • CRITICAL - immediate action required
  • HIGH - fix before next release
  • MEDIUM - fix in next sprint
  • INFO - best practice recommendation

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-audit is a skill published in the GitHub repository berkcangumusisik/claude-code-practices (10 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 21 tokens to every session and 329 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (runs shell commands). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
