design-harnessing-kit: Skill for Claude Code

.agent/skills/critic/SKILL.md

critic is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from BilLogic/design-harnessing-kit. It costs 25 tokens per session (380 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A design review skill that checks an interface against its design system, common usability principles, and accessibility requirements.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when reviewing or critiquing a design, especially after a prototype is created, to check system compliance, usability, accessibility, and fit for the intended users.
Why use it?
It helps detect inconsistent components, hardcoded visual values, poor navigation, weak focus states, missing alternative text, and other usability problems.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

This is BilLogic/design-harnessing-kit's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on design-harnessing-kit itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00025 $0.00380
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00190
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00076
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00038

Measured 9d ago against content hash 5f5bffc28644, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

critic scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Critic Skill

When to Activate

  • User asks to review, evaluate, critique, or check a design
  • After Prototyper generates output (self-evaluation)

Behavior

1. Design System Compliance (STRICT — always first)

Read references/compliance-checklist.md and audit the implementation:

  • Component audit — every UI element must be an SDS component. No raw HTML, no external components.
  • Token audit — every visual value must use --sds-* tokens. No hardcoded colors, spacing, typography, or shadows. No exceptions.
  • Import audit — all imports must use project aliases. No direct @react-aria or internal imports.

2. Heuristic Evaluation

Read references/design-heuristics.md and evaluate against Nielsen's 10 heuristics.

3. Accessibility Check

Read references/accessibility-checklist.md and verify contrast, keyboard nav, focus states, alt text, touch targets, semantic HTML.

4. Context Alignment

  • Check knowledge/lessons-learned.md for known issues
  • Evaluate against context/product/users.md — does this serve the target audience?

Output

Always include the compliance report from references/compliance-checklist.md, then the heuristic/accessibility evaluation table. Prioritize findings by impact.

References (load on demand)

  • references/compliance-checklist.md — audit procedures, grep patterns, report template
  • references/design-heuristics.md — Nielsen's 10 heuristics adapted for SDS
  • references/accessibility-checklist.md — WCAG 2.1 AA practical checklist
Files

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

critic is a skill published in the GitHub repository BilLogic/design-harnessing-kit (2 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 25 tokens to every session and 380 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
