agentdescent: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/fix-issue/SKILL.md

fix-issue is a skill for Claude Code from Birfy/agentdescent. It costs 42 tokens per session (766 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A step-by-step procedure for fixing one GitHub issue from start to finish. It creates a fresh copy of the repository, writes a failing test before the fix, runs checks, opens and reviews a pull request, and follows the project's merge rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to claim an agent-ready issue, implement and test the fix, create a pull request, run the required checks, and merge it according to project policy.
Why use it?
It prevents changes from being made in a stale or shared checkout and provides evidence that the fix works. It also keeps issue assignment, review, merging, and cleanup in one controlled process.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.00766
Opus 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00306
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00153
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00077

Measured 9d ago against content hash 3d858b49b83d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fix-issue scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AgentDescent fix-issue

One agent-ready issue, one fresh clone, one branch, one PR. This skill grants no merge authority beyond AGENTS.md › Merge policy.

0. Before anything

  • AGENT_PAUSE is not true (gh variable list -R Birfy/agentdescent).
  • The issue is agent-ready, not hold, and nobody else is assigned.
  • Read AGENTS.md, CODE_STANDARDS.md and LESSONS.md from origin/main.
  • Claim: assign Birfy, add agent-working, comment with the branch name.

1. Fresh clone

RUN=<run-root>/$(date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S)-<issue>
git clone https://github.com/Birfy/agentdescent "$RUN/repo" && cd "$RUN/repo"
git checkout -b agent/<issue>-<slug> origin/main
python3 -m venv "$RUN/venv" && "$RUN/venv/bin/pip" install -e ".[dev,mcp]"

2. Red, then green

  1. Write the test first and run it on the unchanged main: it must fail.
  2. Fix the class (every host, every adapter, both evolve() and async_evolve() when the loop is involved), not the sample.
  3. Public API changed → python -m tools.gen_api_docs. User-visible change → changelog.d/<issue>-<slug>.md.
pytest -q
python -m tools.gen_api_docs --check
python -m tools.changelog_fragments check
mkdocs build --strict # docs changes only

Real-model (Ark) checks only with ARK_API_KEY already in the environment; never write the key anywhere.

4. PR

  • Push the branch (never main, never --force), open the PR with the template: imperative title, Fixes #N, short body, Tip SHA: / Ran: / Not run:. Assign Birfy; labels agent-pr + type + area.
  • Tier: python3 .github/scripts/risk_gate.py --pr <n>.

5. Review at the tip

Wait for the required checks (build, test (3.9)..test (3.13)) to be green at the tip, then review with review-pr in a fresh session and post the report. A finding → fix, push, and review the new tip from scratch (a new commit voids the PASS).

6. Merge by tier

  • T0/T1: gh pr merge <n> -R Birfy/agentdescent --auto --squash --match-head-commit <sha>.
  • T2/T3: add awaiting-approval and stop; Danyang clicks merge.
  • Never --admin, never the ruleset bypass.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fix-issue is a skill published in the GitHub repository Birfy/agentdescent (201 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 42 tokens to every session and 766 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-20.
