effectcraft

effectcraft is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from BlackBeltTechnology/pi-agent-dashboard. It costs 87 tokens per session (2,393 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A headless motion-graphics and compositing tool for combining text, shapes, footage, effects, and animation over time. It uses layers and keyframes, where keyframes mark how a property changes during an animation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create animated titles, lower thirds, effects, and other compositions, then render them as video, GIF, audio, or still images.
Why use it?
It makes animated graphics repeatable from commands without requiring a desktop effects editor. It can render transparent overlays, videos, GIFs, still images, and image sequences.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00087 $0.02393
Opus 5.5 $0.00035 $0.00957
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00479
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00239

Security

Grade A, and why

effectcraft scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

EffectCraft — headless motion graphics

EffectCraft is ArtCraft's compositing/motion app (comps, layers, 731 commands, 300+ effects). pi-craft provisions the headless effectcraft-cli on first use (no desktop app). Choosing between apps, the discover → execute → save → verify loop, the hand-off formats and the MCP policy live in craft-studio (an alpha overlay for FilmCraft is mov ProRes 4444 with rgba channels — this skill produces it).

What it is for / formats

Compositions of text, shapes, footage and effects with keyframes, expressions and text animation presets. Project file: .ecproj. Renders h264 hevc av1 prores webm gif, image sequences png jpeg tiff exr, audio wav aiff; a single still via render-frame (png). For finished video editing use FilmCraft, for a still raster edit PhotoCraft.

CLI dialect

pi-craft effectcraft exec <args…> passes the arguments to effectcraft-cli. Project flags come before the subcommand (--empty, --project F.ecproj, --save, --save-as F).

effectcraft-cli commands [--filter TEXT] [--enabled] [--json] # list ids; --json adds the parameter schema
effectcraft-cli exec <id> --params JSON # one command ("exec --list" = commands)
effectcraft-cli run <id> <json> [<id> <json> …] # several, in order (each id followed by its JSON)
effectcraft-cli script FILE.jsx [F.ecproj] | --eval CODE # After-Effects-style JS object model (project, comps, layers)
effectcraft-cli info | props <comp> <layer> [--flat] | get <comp> <layer> <path> [--time S] | set <comp> <layer> <path> <value> [--time S]
effectcraft-cli render [--comp C] --out FILE --format F [--prores 4444] [--channels rgb|rgba] [--resolution half] [--start S --end S]
effectcraft-cli render-frame [--comp C] --time S|--frame N [--max-side PX] --out F.png [--transparent]
  • <comp>: id or name, - = the active comp. <layer>: id, #n (index) or name. Property paths are slash paths from props --flat (e.g. transform/opacity, transform/position).
  • run takes JSON as the next argument, not --params: run comp.new '{…}' layer.newText '{…}'. Each command prints its result ({"comp":1}, {"layer":2}) — keep ids for later steps.
  • Text animation presets: layer.applyTextPreset '{"preset":"fadeUpCharacters"}' (also typewriter, blurIn, trackingIn, dropInLines, …); it applies to the last layer when layer is omitted.
  • Keyframes: prop.addKey '{"layer":"Name","path":"transform/opacity","time":1,"value":100}'.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

effectcraft is a skill published in the GitHub repository BlackBeltTechnology/pi-agent-dashboard (319 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 87 tokens to every session and 2,393 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-15.
