What is gopherstack-gates?

A project-specific guide for choosing the smallest correct build, test, or lint command in the gopherstack Go repository. It maps the kind of change to checks such as race-enabled tests, linting, builds, persistence tests, and integration tests.

Use it to test one service, validate shared-package changes, check persistence or wire formats, diagnose failures, and run the final pre-push checks.

It avoids wasting time running the entire test suite for every small change and reduces guesswork when a linter or continuous-integration check fails. It also defines the full sequence to run before pushing.

Iterative fix loops

While fixing, use scripts/dev/gotest-fail.sh [flags] <pkgs> (e.g. scripts/dev/gotest-fail.sh -run TestFoo ./services/sqs/...). It runs go test -json -race and prints only failures: failed tests with output, build failures, package-level panics/races, and a summary. Exit code = go test's.
