deploy-health-watch

deploy-health-watch is a skill for Claude Code from bradlay/claude-code-recipes. It costs 51 tokens per session (339 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A checker that polls web health endpoints after a deployment using curl, a command-line tool for making web requests. It reports HTTP status, response time, and a returned version when available.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check one or more service URLs immediately after deployment or repeatedly for 30 to 60 minutes. It reports failed requests and suggests checking the affected service’s logs.
Why use it?
It can reveal a service that became unhealthy or is still serving an older deployment after the deployment appears finished.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00051 $0.00339
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00136
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00034

Security

Grade A, and why

deploy-health-watch scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 18d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

Deploy Health Watch

Check a set of health endpoints and report anything unhealthy. Uses curl.

Endpoints

Take the list from, in order:

  1. Arguments: /deploy-health-watch <url> [<url> ...].
  2. A project file the user keeps, for example .health-endpoints with one URL per line (lines starting with # ignored).
  3. Otherwise ask the user once for the URLs and suggest saving them to that file.

Check

For each URL:

curl -sS -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code} %{time_total}" --max-time 10 <url>

Healthy means HTTP 2xx within the timeout. If the endpoint returns JSON with a version field (for example a commit SHA), report it too, so a stale deploy is visible.

Report

  • All healthy: one line, All N endpoints healthy (with versions if present).
  • Otherwise, per unhealthy endpoint: URL, status code or curl error, response time, and a suggestion to check that service's logs.

With /loop

/loop 5m /deploy-health-watch

Run for 30 to 60 minutes after a deploy to catch delayed failures, then stop the loop.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

deploy-health-watch is a skill published in the GitHub repository bradlay/claude-code-recipes (2 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 51 tokens to every session and 339 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-17.
