squad: Skill for Claude Code

.copilot/skills/documentation-maintenance/SKILL.md

documentation-maintenance is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from bradygaster/squad. It costs 17 tokens per session (319 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A documentation-maintenance guide for keeping Squad's user-facing pages accurate, easy to scan, and consistent. It covers page structure, links, inventories, and checking whether product changes require documentation updates.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding, removing, or substantially changing guides, feature pages, scenarios, concepts, or reference material. It helps choose between paragraphs, lists, tables, and links.
Why use it?
It prevents duplicate explanations, broken or missing documentation, and pages that describe infrastructure as if it were a product feature. It also keeps documentation checks aligned with the files that actually exist.

About the project

bradygaster/squad is a tool that creates a human-directed team of AI development agents inside a project repository through GitHub Copilot. Developers use it to delegate work among persistent specialists such as frontend, backend, testing, and lead agents while retaining responsibility for decisions and review. The catalogue entries are the skills, agents, and instructions that define and coordinate those team members.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00017 $0.00319
Opus 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00128
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00064
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00032

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 014bc349e4e4, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

documentation-maintenance scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Context

Use this skill when adding, removing, or materially changing user-facing documentation. Squad documentation should describe the product and its supported configuration, not surrounding infrastructure presented as product behavior.

Patterns

  • Follow the Microsoft Style Guide: sentence-case headings, active voice, second person, and present tense unless established project voice requires an exception.
  • Keep one canonical page per concept. Link to it rather than duplicating content, using the most specific stable anchor available.
  • Choose paragraphs for explanation, parallel lists for scannable choices or steps, and tables for comparisons or reference data.
  • When a page is added or removed, update the relevant expected-inventory arrays in test/docs-build.test.ts in the same change.
  • Review behavior changes for documentation impact. Update affected docs or explicitly record why no user-facing documentation changes.

Examples

.github/PR_REQUIREMENTS.md requires a docs-build test update for a new feature page. test/docs-build.test.ts verifies the expected guide, feature, scenario, concept, and reference inventories against the filesystem.

Anti-Patterns

  • Presenting external deployment wrappers, bots, or unrelated infrastructure as Squad features
  • Adding a page without checking the inventory assertions
  • Duplicating a concept across several pages instead of linking to the canonical explanation
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
