trove-cdk

trove-cdk is a skill for Claude Code from bravew/trove. It costs 28 tokens per session (440 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Coding conventions for AWS CDK, a tool for defining cloud infrastructure with TypeScript or other programming languages.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or reviewing CDK stacks and reusable infrastructure components, especially AWS Lambda and SQS resources.
Why use it?
They provide consistent patterns for queues, functions, permissions, configuration, and resources that must survive deployments.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00440
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00220
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00088
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

trove-cdk scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Session Init

This skill ships Trove conventions. Prefer existing project patterns over generic best practices when they conflict.

AWS CDK Conventions

Construct Structure

export class MyServiceStack extends cdk.Stack {
  constructor(scope: Construct, id: string, props: MyServiceProps) {
    super(scope, id, props);

    const queue = new sqs.Queue(this, 'ProcessingQueue', {
      visibilityTimeout: cdk.Duration.seconds(300),
      retentionPeriod: cdk.Duration.days(14),
    });

    const fn = new lambda.Function(this, 'Handler', {
      runtime: lambda.Runtime.PYTHON_3_12,
      handler: 'handler.main',
      code: lambda.Code.fromAsset('lambda/'),
      timeout: cdk.Duration.seconds(30),
      memorySize: 256,
      environment: {
        QUEUE_URL: queue.queueUrl,
      },
    });

    queue.grantSendMessages(fn);
  }
}

Best Practices

  • One construct per logical resource group
  • Use cdk.Duration, cdk.Size for type-safe values
  • Grant permissions via .grant*() methods (not inline IAM)
  • Use cdk.RemovalPolicy.RETAIN for stateful resources (databases, S3)
  • Stage-aware config via context (-c stage=production)

AI Gotchas

  • Logical IDs: Changing construct IDs causes resource replacement
  • Cross-stack refs: Use cdk.Fn.importValue() or shared props, not hardcoded ARNs
  • Synth vs Deploy: Always cdk synth before cdk deploy to validate
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

trove-cdk is a skill published in the GitHub repository bravew/trove (10 stars, last pushed 9d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 440 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
