trove-verify

trove-verify is a skill for Claude Code from bravew/trove. It costs 23 tokens per session (439 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A completion-check workflow for changes that are about to be called done, fixed, complete, or shipped. It checks the actual result, not only whether code compiled or a build passed.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps choose and run relevant tests, linting, type checks, builds, or manual inspections, then review the changed files and confirm the resulting artifact.
Why use it?
It catches changes that look successful in a command's output but do not produce the intended behavior. It also checks the diff and records assumptions that remain unverified.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.00439
Opus 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00176
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00088
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

trove-verify scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Session Init

This skill ships Trove conventions. Prefer existing project patterns over generic best practices when they conflict.

If a sibling skill in this plugin matches the request more directly, defer to it. See AGENTS.md (or docs/routing.md in the marketplace) for the per-plugin routing index.

trove-verify

Before claiming done: run the tests, reread the diff, list the unverified assumptions.

Verify the real thing

"It compiles", "the build passed", or "the screenshot rendered" is not verification of behavior. Check the actual artifact the change was supposed to affect: the running endpoint returns the right body, the rendered UI shows the right pixels, the migration moved the right row count. Name what you checked.

When a check will be re-run, script it as a deterministic, re-runnable comparison (old value vs new value) rather than a one-off glance. When work was delegated to a sub-agent, trust the git diff and the artifacts it produced — never its prose summary of what it did.

Self-check

  1. Run the most relevant test, lint, typecheck, build, or manual inspection.
  2. Reread the touched diff for unintended churn and user-owned changes.
  3. Confirm generated artifacts are fresh when generators are involved.
  4. Name any verification that could not run and why.

Decision Gate: completion claim

Context: A completion claim is only useful if it says what was actually proven. Question: Is the requested outcome verified? Options:

  • A. Yes - summarize changes and verification.
  • B. Partially - summarize changes and call out the gap.
  • C. No - keep working or ask for the missing input. Default: C, because unverified work is not complete.

Output

Use concise prose: what changed, what passed, and what remains unverified.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

trove-verify is a skill published in the GitHub repository bravew/trove (10 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 23 tokens to every session and 439 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-11.
