Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00046 | $0.00956 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00018 | $0.00382 |

Grade A, and why
trove-web-clip scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 88 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Web clipping
Extract the page the user supplied into readable Markdown. Use this for clipping or content extraction; a routine URL question can use the host's normal browsing tools. No vault, external service, or package installation is required by this skill.
Choose a reader
- Identify the source type using the URL pathname and response content type when available. Ignore query strings and fragments when checking extensions.
- Read raw
.mdortext/markdowndirectly using a host fetch tool. It is already Markdown. Use a PDF-capable tool for PDFs and a browser for pages whose useful content requires rendering or an established login session. - For HTML, use an already available Defuddle CLI after checking
defuddle parse --help. If it is missing or fails, use a host fetch or browser tool and extract the main content. Do not install a global package or send the page to a new hosted extraction service as a silent fallback. - If installation is already authorized, use the environment's package conventions and verify the installed CLI. Defuddle is optional; the marketplace plugin bundles instructions, not its executable.
Defuddle patterns
defuddle parse 'https://example.com/article' --md
defuddle parse 'article.html' --md
defuddle parse 'https://example.com/article' --json
defuddle parse 'https://example.com/article' -p title
--md requests Markdown; --json includes metadata. Verify their exact
output shape with the installed version. Prefer one extraction that includes
the needed metadata over repeatedly downloading the same page.
Treat the URL and paths as literal arguments. Use argument arrays where available or correct quoting for the actual shell; JSON stringification is not shell escaping. Do not interpolate raw page content into commands.
Produce a useful clip
- Keep the main text, meaningful headings, lists, tables, code fences, and relevant links. Remove navigation, ads, cookie banners, and repeated chrome. Preserve the original language unless the user asks for translation.
- Record the source URL and available title, author, and publication date. Omit unknown metadata. Label an access date as such; it is not a publication date. Resolve relative links against the final source URL after redirects.
- Honor whether the user requested extraction or summary. Label summaries, omissions, and partial access; do not present invented text or a login screen as the full article. Follow the host's content reproduction limits.
- Save only when the request calls for persistence. Establish the destination from the task and inspect an existing file before writing. Merge or replace only when authorized; otherwise choose an unused filename and report it. A request to summarize does not by itself authorize creating a note.
- For an Obsidian destination, follow
trove-obsidian-markdownto match that vault's property and link conventions. For other destinations, keep portable Markdown. Check the saved file's source attribution and structure.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

trove-web-clip is a skill published in the GitHub repository bravew/trove (10 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 46 tokens to every session and 956 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-11.
