unifi-tools: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/unifi/SKILL.md

unifi is a skill for Claude Code from brianbell-x/unifi-tools. It costs 70 tokens per session (3,367 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command-line and tool interface for managing UniFi network controllers and their connected equipment. UniFi is Ubiquiti's system for administering networks, Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPNs, and related devices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect or manage devices, clients, Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewall policies, access rules, DNS policies, VPNs, and hotspot vouchers.
Why use it?
It removes the need to handle each network-management operation manually and returns results as JSON for easier automation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00070 $0.03367
Opus 5 $0.00035 $0.01684
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00673
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00337

Security

Grade A, and why

unifi scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 254 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

UniFi Network Management

One tool, two faces, same names: CLI command unifi list devices == MCP tool unifi_list_devices. Prefer the CLI when a shell is available. Everything below uses CLI syntax; for MCP, join the command words with _ and pass the same arguments as tool parameters.

  • Config: one file written by unifi init (env vars with the same names override). site_id is optional — single-site controllers auto-resolve.
  • Output: JSON. Exit code 1 when the result is an error.
  • Destructive commands (delete, remove, restart, power, unauthorize, bulk, mongo write, ssh exec, provision) require --yes.
  • Read-only mode: UNIFI_READ_ONLY=true blocks all writes server-side.

Gotchas

  • Pagination: list endpoints return 25 items by default (vouchers: 100). Use --offset / --limit (max 200; vouchers 1000). Responses include totalCount — loop until you have everything.
  • Filtering: most list/bulk commands accept --filter with property.function(args) syntax: name.eq('Guest'), expired.eq(true), name.like('cam*'), and(a,b), not(x). String values in single quotes (escape ' as '').
  • WiFi/Network creation: the API requires many more fields than the schema suggests — use the complete payloads below; extra fields pass through.
  • ACL rule ordering: lower index = higher priority (first-match-wins).
  • get app info: returns applicationVersion only.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

unifi is a skill published in the GitHub repository brianbell-x/unifi-tools (10 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 70 tokens to every session and 3,367 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
