10x-pentest: Skill for Claude Code

.github/skills/pt-new/SKILL.md

pt-new is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from brovar/10x-pentest. It costs 92 tokens per session (1,558 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A setup step for opening a new penetration-testing engagement, meaning one complete authorised security test. It creates an engagement folder and an identity file, or starts a retest from an earlier engagement.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start a new test, create a retest from a previous one, or prepare the workspace before defining its scope.
Why use it?
It gives each security test a separate place for its scope, notes, and other working documents, while preventing accidental name collisions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00092 $0.01558
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.00779
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00312
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00156

Security

Grade A, and why

pt-new scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 117 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

/pt-new — Open a New Engagement

Bootstrap a new engagement folder under context/engagements/<engagement-id>/. Creates the engagement.md identity file (per foundation/engagement-schema.md) and points the operator at /pt-scope. In retest mode (--from <prior-engagement-id>) it also seeds the prior engagement's artifacts forward as editable templates. An "engagement" is one security test end-to-end — every staged artifact lives inside its <engagement-id> folder.

When to use, when to skip

  • Use to start a new engagement, or a retest (--from) of a prior one.
  • Skip if the engagement folder already exists — this skill refuses collisions (that IS its re-run behavior); to continue an existing engagement, run the stage skill you left off at, or /pt-run to be routed.

Initial Response

  • With an argument: parse it and proceed to Validation.
  • Without: print the usage block and STOP:
I'll open a new engagement folder. Provide an engagement-id (kebab-case slug):

  /pt-new acme-web-q3
/pt-new acme-web-q3 external web app + API, grey-box, repo access
  /pt-new acme-web-q3-retest --from acme-web-q3

The first token is the engagement-id. `--from <prior-id>` opens a retest seeded from a prior
engagement; anything else is freeform intent for the title. The id must be kebab-case and unique
across context/engagements/ and context/archive/.

Inputs

  • <engagement-id> argument[blocking] (the id + optional freeform intent).
  • --from <prior-engagement-id>[optional]; retest mode. The prior engagement folder is [blocking in retest mode] — it must exist in engagements/ or archive/.

Process

Argument parsing

  • First token = engagement-id (strip leading @, trailing /; if it contains /, take the last segment).
  • --from <prior-id> anywhere = retest mode.
  • Everything else = freeform intent for the title (not inserted verbatim).

Validation (any failure → STOP)

  1. kebab-case: <id> matches ^[a-z][a-z0-9]*(-[a-z0-9]+)*$, else error: engagement-id "<id>" is not kebab-case.
  2. Uniqueness: neither context/engagements/<id>/ nor context/archive/<id>/ exists, else error: engagement "<id>" already exists.
  3. Parent exists: context/engagements/ present, else error: run /pt-init first.
  4. Retest only: --from parent exists, else error: --from parent "<prior-id>" not found.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
