kysely-converter

kysely-converter is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from buYoung/skills. It costs 86 tokens per session (1,526 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A converter that rewrites raw SQL database queries as type-safe Kysely code in TypeScript. Kysely is a TypeScript library for building SQL queries in code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to convert SELECT queries, joins, filters, subqueries, common table expressions, and other SQL for PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Why use it?
It saves time translating SQL while preserving support for complex queries and database-specific syntax.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00086 $0.01526
Opus 5 $0.00043 $0.00763
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00305
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00153

Security

Grade A, and why

kysely-converter scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Kysely Query Workflow

Translate query intent into Kysely code using the project's schema types, dialect, and installed API. Source SQL is optional. Keep SQL semantics and the application's result contract visible throughout the task.

1. Classify the request

  • Convert SQL: identify input parameters, clauses, and expected output columns before mapping methods.
  • Write a query: derive tables, relationships, filtering, cardinality, ordering, and desired result shape from requirements; ask for missing schema or business rules that determine the query.
  • Modify or refactor: identify the intended behavior change, or preserve behavior for a refactor. Read the existing builder, helpers, execution site, and result consumer.
  • Diagnose types: obtain the exact error, failing expression, relevant table types, and expected result. Follow the diagnostic order below rather than guessing a replacement type.

2. Establish project context and version

Inspect the relevant project package manifest, installed Kysely package metadata when available, lockfile resolution, TypeScript version, database dialect/server version, driver, schema types, and nearby query code. A dependency range is not an exact installed version. Account for workspace-specific resolutions and plugins that transform queries or results.

Use the user's requested version together with installation and lock information. If they conflict, ask which version to target before choosing APIs. If no version can be confirmed, explicitly state “Assuming Kysely 0.29.5” and proceed with that baseline; do not present it as the installed version. Missing dialect, schema, or return requirements still need clarification when they affect correctness.

For 0.29.x, read the version reference before selecting APIs. For another version, verify relevant APIs against that version's official release notes and tagged source/declarations. Do not apply the 0.29 reference as proof of compatibility with older or later versions, or silently upgrade the project.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
