fireflies is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Buzzmatic/awesome-agent-skills. It costs 78 tokens per session (1,558 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A connector for Fireflies.ai, a service that records and analyzes meetings. It retrieves transcripts, summaries, action items, speaker information, and AI-generated conversation insights.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to fetch individual or filtered meeting transcripts, search meetings with natural-language questions, review summaries and action items, and inspect speaker or team analytics.
Why use it?
It saves you from manually searching recordings and notes when you need information from one or many meetings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00078 $0.01558
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.00779
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00312
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00156

Security

Grade A, and why

fireflies scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/askfred_query.py, scripts/fetch_transcripts.py, scripts/fetch_user.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Fireflies Skill

Fetch meeting transcripts, summaries, and analytics from Fireflies.ai.

How to use this skill — read this first

This skill has two access paths. Always prefer the MCP tools.

PRIMARY: MCP tools (mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__*) — no API key needed

When the mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__* MCP tools are available in your run, use them directly. You (the agent) call these tools yourself — they need no FIREFLIES_API_KEY and require no environment setup. This is the default, preferred path.

Task MCP tool
Get a single transcript by ID mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__fireflies_get_transcript
List / fetch many transcripts (with date / participant filters) mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__fireflies_get_transcripts
Search meetings / natural-language AskFred-style queries mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__fireflies_search
Get current user info & team analytics mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__fireflies_get_user

Tool names can vary slightly by MCP build — if one of the above is not present, look for the matching mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__* tool exposed in your run and use it. Only fall back to the Python scripts below when no mcp__claude_ai_Fireflies__* tool is available.

When you need the result persisted to disk, take the MCP tool's JSON output and write it to the appropriate file yourself.

FALLBACK: bundled Python scripts — require FIREFLIES_API_KEY

Use the scripts/ below only when the MCP tools are unavailable. These call the Fireflies GraphQL API directly and therefore require the FIREFLIES_API_KEY environment variable. If a script reports a missing key, do not stop — switch to the PRIMARY MCP path above. Only set FIREFLIES_API_KEY if MCP is genuinely unavailable in the run.

Quick Start

All scripts:

  • Accept an optional --output-dir parameter (default: output/)
  • Save raw JSON and processed CSV to that directory
  • Return JSON with {"output_files": [...], "summary": "..."}

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fireflies is a skill published in the GitHub repository Buzzmatic/awesome-agent-skills (1 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 78 tokens to every session and 1,558 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
