volcengine-doubao-speech-tts

volcengine-doubao-speech-tts is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from calesthio/generative-media-skills. It costs 97 tokens per session (2,560 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A production guide for using Volcengine Doubao Speech, a mainland-China text-to-speech service that turns written text into spoken audio. It covers current speech models, streaming, long-text jobs, voices, timestamps, and related controls.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to choose a Doubao speech model, build streaming or asynchronous speech generation, configure voices and SSML, and handle quotas and errors.
Why use it?
It helps developers avoid mixing up Volcengine’s regional service with BytePlus or older APIs. It also explains compatibility, quotas, expiring results, and voice-use requirements that can cause production failures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00097 $0.02560
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.01280
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00512
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00256

Security

Grade A, and why

volcengine-doubao-speech-tts scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Volcengine Doubao Speech TTS

Use this skill for mainland-China Volcengine Doubao Speech. Do not transfer BytePlus API hosts, keys, pricing, legal terms, or assumptions into this workflow. The services share model-family language but are separate regional products.

Verification and evidence

  • Documented fact: behavior stated by official Volcengine pages.
  • Production heuristic: a workflow recommendation requiring target-account testing.
  • Empirical observation: a result from a dated request in the actual account/region.

Facts were verified 2026-07-12. Voice lists, protocol compatibility, pricing, activation, quotas, retention, regional availability, and legal terms are volatile. Re-check the Chinese official docs and authenticated console.

Product and API boundary

Current synthesis resource families include:

  • seed-tts-1.0: TTS 1.0 on V3;
  • seed-tts-2.0: TTS 2.0 on V3;
  • seed-icl-1.0: authorized cloned-voice 1.0 synthesis;
  • seed-icl-2.0: authorized cloned-voice 2.0 synthesis.

Legacy volc.service_type.10029 and the V1 API belong to older TTS 1.0 contracts. Do not call a TTS 2.0 voice through V1 or substitute legacy model selectors for a V3 resource ID.

This leaf covers synthesis and long-text production. Voice enrollment is included only as a consent/authorization boundary; ASR, speech agents, interpretation, podcasts, speech-to-speech, and international BytePlus are out of scope.

Choose a protocol

V3 bidirectional WebSocket

Use when text arrives incrementally:

wss://openspeech.bytedance.com/api/v3/tts/bidirection

Follow the documented connection/session/task lifecycle. Not every voice supports every protocol; verify the current voice list and account entitlement before locking bidirectional delivery.

V3 unidirectional streaming

Use when the complete text is known but audio should stream. Official Volcengine documentation includes V3 WebSocket, HTTP chunked, and SSE surfaces. Select the exact documented endpoint and response parser at implementation time; do not assume transport schemas are interchangeable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
