stelow-workflow-interface-contrast

stelow-workflow-interface-contrast is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from calionauta/stelow. It costs 46 tokens per session (1,617 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for comparing interface options during an existing product design stage. It records the decision, constraints, evidence, trade-offs, and the final choice without creating a separate approval stage.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps document alternatives, preserve the decision-maker's first reaction, identify missing evidence, ask live questions when needed, and produce JSON and Markdown decision records.
Why use it?
It prevents interface decisions from being made without clear criteria or from losing the reasons and evidence behind a choice.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.01617
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00647
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00323
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00162

Security

Grade A, and why

stelow-workflow-interface-contrast scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Interface Contrast

Use this skill during the existing Interface stage. It does not create a new root stage and it does not own card state or execution lifecycle.

Method

  1. Read ../stelow-workflow-orchestrator/references/cli-tools/ui-design-research.md if any real design reference is cited. At this stage a reference is provenance for an option already named — never a source of new options, because generating fresh alternatives from a gallery would replace the decision-maker's recorded first reaction with the agent's browsing.
  2. Read the approved Scope Map when one exists and record its version.
  3. Write the decision question, fixed constraints, criteria, and missing evidence.
  4. Preserve the decision-maker's first reaction before showing agent synthesis.
  5. Generate bounded alternatives with explicit related dimensions and compatibility. Each option carries the wireframe of the proposal it came from — copy the ASCII sketch across verbatim. The interface gate is a visual review of these proposals, and an option the gate cannot look at is an option nobody chose on purpose.
  6. Ground every alternative in the delivery slices: record per-option scope coverage (served scope IDs, friction scope IDs with notes) against the recorded map version. When no map exists, say so and why — never invent coverage.
  7. Show trade-offs, evidence, missing evidence, and accepted sacrifice.
  8. Stop for a live question when the choice changes product authority or cannot be made from current evidence.
  9. Emit a selection receipt only after a current answer or an explicit agent disposition. Then record the pick host-side with scripts/stelow decide --selected <winner> --rejected <losers> --scopes <covered> — the JSON receipt is the brief's record, the host record is what binds future work. Never hand-write decision-receipts.json; overturning a live pick needs an opened challenge (scripts/stelow decide --open-challenge --against <receipt> --reason <why>, then --challenge <challenge-id>).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
