go-quality-gates

go-quality-gates is a skill for Claude Code from car12o/claude-workflows. It costs 49 tokens per session (1,043 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An eight-step quality-check process for Go projects, covering formatting, imports, dependencies, analysis, linting, security, tests, and builds. Some checks can fix problems automatically.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run local checks or set up a continuous-integration pipeline for a Go project.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent order for finding code, dependency, security, test, and build problems before changes are accepted.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.01043
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00522
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00209
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00104

Measured 9d ago against content hash 8b641f10d77e, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

go-quality-gates scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Go Quality Gates

Pipeline Overview

8 gates executed in order. A gate must pass before proceeding to the next.

# Gate Command Auto-fix Essential
1 Format gofmt -s -w . Yes Yes
2 Imports goimports -w . Yes Yes
3 Dependencies go mod tidy && go mod verify Yes Yes
4 Static Analysis go vet ./... No Yes
5 Lint + Security golangci-lint run --fix Partial Optional*
6 Vulnerabilities govulncheck ./... No Optional*
7 Tests + Race go test -race -coverprofile=coverage.out ./... No Yes
8 Build go build ./... No Yes

*Optional gates degrade gracefully if the tool is not installed.

Gate Details

1. Format (gofmt)

gofmt -s -w .

Auto-fixes all formatting. The -s flag applies simplification rules.

2. Imports (goimports)

goimports -w .

Organizes imports into groups: stdlib, external, internal. Auto-fixes.

If missing: go install golang.org/x/tools/cmd/goimports@latest

3. Dependencies (go mod tidy)

go mod tidy
go mod verify

Removes unused deps, adds missing ones. Verifies checksums.

4. Static Analysis (go vet)

go vet ./...

Catches common bugs: printf format mismatches, unreachable code, struct tag errors, etc.

Common fixes:

  • Printf verb mismatch: correct format string
  • Struct tag: fix JSON/XML tag syntax
  • Unreachable code: remove or restructure

5. Lint + Security (golangci-lint)

golangci-lint run --fix

Runs multiple linters including gosec for security. --fix auto-corrects where possible.

Common fixes:

  • errcheck: handle ignored errors
  • gosec: fix security issues (SQL injection, hardcoded creds)
  • gocritic: apply suggested improvements
  • noctx: add context to HTTP requests

If missing: go install github.com/golangci/golangci-lint/cmd/golangci-lint@latest

6. Vulnerabilities (govulncheck)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
