Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00091 | $0.00771 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00036 | $0.00308 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00018 | $0.00154 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00009 | $0.00077 |
Grade A, and why
motion-layout scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 66 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Layout moved: layout, layoutId, <LayoutGroup>
Three tools, one engine (the projection tree — measures before, measures after, animates the difference by transform with scale correction).
layout=true — one element, same place in the tree, box changed
(a grid item whose column changed, a panel that grew). Also "position" /
"size" to animate only that facet.
layoutId — two elements, one identity. Give both the same layoutId;
the engine treats them as one thing that moved. Only one is on screen at a
time. This is the tabs indicator, thumbnail → lightbox, row → detail.
<button {{motion layoutId='shot-4'}}>…</button> {{! the thumbnail }}
<figure {{motion layoutId='shot-4'}}>…</figure> {{! the open one }}
<LayoutGroup @id='tabs'> — namespaces layoutIds and hosts the render
detector: any render pass inside it snapshots every projection node before
the DOM changes. A filtered/reordered grid wants <LayoutGroup> around it
with layout=true on each card (see
packages/choreo-gallery/realm/shell/gallery-grid.gts — cards fly to new seats
while their content keeps running).
Rules
- Radius and shadow must go through the modifier. Layout animation
scales the element, corners included. The engine corrects
borderRadiusandboxShadowper frame — but only values it holds:{{motion layout=true style=(styles borderRadius='14px')}}. A stylesheet radius comes out oval mid-flight. - Text under a non-uniform scale smears. Give the child its own
layout=true— it is measured in its own right and projection undoes the parent's scale. - Works with
<Presence>: an exiting lead hands over to the entering follower (shared-tabs.gts).layoutCrossfade, lead/follow promotion, portals all ported. - Useful extras:
layoutDependency,layoutScroll(scrollable ancestors),layoutRoot,instantLayoutTransition(),layoutChange().
When NOT
- The two "elements" aren't the same thing — one is a place (a trash can,
a compose button) that must not deform →
{{beacon}}+ Choreoc.Move @to(choreo-scene). - The move must be sequenced against fades of other elements, or needs
z-index for exactly the span of the move →
choreo-scene. - Whole-page navigation morph →
motion-page-transition(but NOT if the content is live — layout animation keeps it running; snapshots freeze it).
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

motion-layout is a skill published in the GitHub repository cardstack/boxel (27 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 91 tokens to every session and 771 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-21.
