compound-patterns

compound-patterns is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ccashwell/evm-cortex. It costs 42 tokens per session (1,173 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An integration guide for Compound V3, a blockchain lending system where each market has one main lending asset and several types of collateral.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build lending and borrowing features, manage collateral, claim rewards, or create liquidation bots.
Why use it?
It explains the differences from older Compound markets and reduces mistakes when supplying assets, borrowing, managing collateral, or handling liquidations.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.01173
Opus 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00469
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00235
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00117

Security

Grade A, and why

compound-patterns scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Compound V3 (Comet) Integration

Architecture

Compound V3 (Comet) is a fundamentally different design from V2. Each Comet deployment is a single-asset market — one base asset (e.g., USDC) with multiple collateral assets. There are no cTokens; the Comet contract itself tracks balances.

Component Description
Comet Core market contract (one per base asset)
CometRewards Claims COMP rewards for suppliers/borrowers
Configurator Governance-controlled parameter updates
BulkerV2 Batch operations including native ETH wrapping

Supply / Withdraw Base Asset

import {IComet} from "./interfaces/IComet.sol";

IComet comet = IComet(COMET_USDC);

// Supply base asset (earn interest)
IERC20(usdc).approve(address(comet), amount);
comet.supply(usdc, amount);

// Withdraw base asset
comet.withdraw(usdc, amount);
// Use type(uint256).max for full withdrawal

Collateral Management

// Supply collateral (does NOT earn interest)
IERC20(weth).approve(address(comet), amount);
comet.supply(weth, amount);

// Withdraw collateral
comet.withdraw(weth, amount);

// Check collateral balance
uint256 collateral = comet.collateralBalanceOf(account, weth);

Borrowing

// Borrow base asset against collateral
// Simply withdraw more base than you supplied
comet.withdraw(usdc, borrowAmount);

// Repay borrow — supply base asset
IERC20(usdc).approve(address(comet), repayAmount);
comet.supply(usdc, repayAmount);

Account State

// Positive = supplying, negative = borrowing
int256 balance = comet.balanceOf(account);

// Check if account is liquidatable
bool isLiquidatable = comet.isLiquidatable(account);

// Get borrow balance (always positive)
uint256 borrowBalance = comet.borrowBalanceOf(account);

// Check if an action is allowed
bool canBorrow = comet.isBorrowCollateralized(account);

Liquidation via Absorb

// Compound V3 uses "absorb" instead of traditional liquidation
// Anyone can call absorb on an underwater account
address[] memory accounts = new address[](1);
accounts[0] = underwaterAccount;
comet.absorb(msg.sender, accounts);

// After absorb, protocol holds the collateral
// Buy collateral at a discount through the Comet contract
uint256 reserves = comet.getCollateralReserves(weth);
comet.buyCollateral(weth, minAmount, baseAmount, recipient);

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

compound-patterns is a skill published in the GitHub repository ccashwell/evm-cortex (131 stars, last pushed 17d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 42 tokens to every session and 1,173 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
