representation-and-possibility

representation-and-possibility is a skill for Claude Code from cdeust/zetetic-team-subagents. It costs 74 tokens per session (745 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for expanding or changing the way a problem is represented when its current terms, categories or list of options hide possible solutions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to redesign terminology, check whether a catalogue is truly exhaustive, enumerate overlooked options and explore what a principle could become.
Why use it?
It helps when a problem seems stuck because the notation, assumptions or claimed set of choices is too narrow or incomplete.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00074 $0.00745
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.00373
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00149
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00075

Security

Grade A, and why

representation-and-possibility scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Representation and Possibility

Problem shape: the difficulty is not in solving but in stating — the symbols, categories, or enumerated options in play are the constraint. Symptoms: a problem that becomes trivial once renamed, a "complete" catalog nobody has bounded, a roadmap whose option space stops at the adjacent, a result that is intuitively obvious and formally unestablished.

Relevant geniuses

Agent Use when
euler the current notation or vocabulary obscures the solution — redesign the notation as infrastructure, delete what the abstraction does not need, enumerate exhaustively once the symbols carry their weight
borges a system claims completeness or exhaustiveness — audit whether the space is actually searchable, keep the map distinct from the territory, detect the self-reference that makes the catalog contain itself
lem the question is "what could this become?" and the standard forecast is too narrow — explore the possibility space systematically, push each principle to its logical extreme to see what breaks or emerges
archimedes you need the result before you can prove it — find it by physical intuition, analogy, or simulation, then prove it rigorously by a second, independent method (the two-stage discipline; stage one alone is not a result)

Invocation

  1. Pick the best-fit agent above. If two or more fit, run tools/genius-invoker.sh route "<problem>" and take the top ranked match.
  2. Load it: tools/genius-invoker.sh invoke <agent> "<problem>", then read agents/genius/<agent>.md in full.
  3. Apply the agent's <workflow> step by step and answer in its <output-format>. When archimedes is used, the heuristic stage and the proof stage are reported separately and labeled — an unproven heuristic presented as a result is the failure mode this shape exists to prevent.
  4. Typical chain: euler renames until the structure is visible → borges bounds the space the new notation opens → lem pushes the surviving options to their extremes. Run via tools/genius-invoker.sh compose euler borges lem -- "<problem>".
  5. If no shape above matches, do not force a genius — use a standard team agent (INDEX.md routing rule).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

representation-and-possibility is a skill published in the GitHub repository cdeust/zetetic-team-subagents (7 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 74 tokens to every session and 745 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
