notion

notion is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from chemany/Mente. It costs 17 tokens per session (1,588 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of notion, MIT.

A set of instructions for using Notion's web API, which lets programs work with Notion pages, databases, and content blocks. It uses command-line requests made with curl.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search Notion, read pages, and create or update pages, databases, and blocks.
Why use it?
It provides a repeatable way to read and change Notion content without writing a separate integration or SDK setup.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00017 $0.01588
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00794
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00318
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00159

Security

Grade A, and why

notion scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Notion API

Use the Notion API via curl to create, read, update pages, databases (data sources), and blocks. No extra tools needed — just curl and a Notion API key.

Prerequisites

  1. Create an integration at https://notion.so/my-integrations
  2. Copy the API key (starts with ntn_ or secret_)
  3. Store it in ~/.hermes/.env:
    NOTION_API_KEY=ntn_your_key_here

  4. Important: Share target pages/databases with your integration in Notion (click "..." → "Connect to" → your integration name)

API Basics

All requests use this pattern:

curl -s -X GET "https://api.notion.com/v1/..." \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json"

The Notion-Version header is required. This skill uses 2025-09-03 (latest). In this version, databases are called "data sources" in the API.

Common Operations

Search

curl -s -X POST "https://api.notion.com/v1/search" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query": "page title"}'

Get Page

curl -s "https://api.notion.com/v1/pages/{page_id}" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03"

Get Page Content (blocks)

curl -s "https://api.notion.com/v1/blocks/{page_id}/children" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03"

Create Page in a Database

curl -s -X POST "https://api.notion.com/v1/pages" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "parent": {"database_id": "xxx"},
    "properties": {
      "Name": {"title": [{"text": {"content": "New Item"}}]},
      "Status": {"select": {"name": "Todo"}}
    }
  }'

Query a Database

curl -s -X POST "https://api.notion.com/v1/data_sources/{data_source_id}/query" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTION_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notion-Version: 2025-09-03" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "filter": {"property": "Status", "select": {"equals": "Active"}},
    "sorts": [{"property": "Date", "direction": "descending"}]
  }'

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
