onboarding

onboarding is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from chenhunghan/garmin-mcp-app. It costs 30 tokens per session (207 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup guide for connecting a Garmin account to Run Coach. Garmin is a service that records exercise and health data from compatible devices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect Garmin, show the day's briefing, and introduce training trends, weekly planning, and run splits.
Why use it?
It keeps account sign-in inside a protected form instead of asking you to share a password in chat.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00207
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00083
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00041
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00021

Security

Grade A, and why

onboarding scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Set up Run Coach

  1. Call garmin-check-auth with {}. If the user isn't connected, it shows the Garmin sign-in form inside the app: ask them to sign in there (email, password and, if enabled, the MFA code). Never ask for the password in the chat — the form encrypts it and it stays on their computer.
  2. Once connected, call get-daily-briefing with {} to show today's briefing, and give a one-paragraph read of it.
  3. Mention, briefly, what else they can ask: trends over the last year (show-performance-dashboard), planning a training week, and splits of a recent run. The Coach sidebar items open the daily briefing and the dashboard any time.

If they installed the plugin during another task, continue that task after connecting.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

onboarding is a skill published in the GitHub repository chenhunghan/garmin-mcp-app (14 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 207 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-05.
