chestnut-wechat-publisher

chestnut-wechat-publisher is a skill for Codex from chestnutzoe/chestnut-copy-skill. It costs 50 tokens per session (1,020 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A publishing helper that prepares an approved article and uploads it to the draft area of a WeChat Official Account. WeChat Official Accounts are pages used by organizations and creators to publish articles to followers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare the title, summary, cover, and article details, check API setup, and create a draft for manual review.
Why use it?
It helps move a finished article into the WeChat backend while leaving the final review and publishing decision with you. It does not automatically publish or send the article.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00050 $0.01020
Opus 5 $0.00025 $0.00510
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00204
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00102

Measured 12d ago against content hash 1b96b6af4099, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

chestnut-wechat-publisher scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/publish_draft.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Purpose

This skill prepares and uploads approved local articles to the WeChat Official Account draft box.

It answers one question:

这篇文章怎么落地到公众号后台?

It is a publishing helper, not a writing skill. Use it after the draft, title, and direction are already approved.

Boundary

Default behavior:

  • create draft only,
  • no automatic publish,
  • no mass send,
  • no scheduled send,
  • final backend review stays with the user.

Always remind the user to inspect title, digest, cover, formatting, images, links, and typos in the WeChat backend before publishing.

Credential Setup

Use persistent local credentials by default. The script reads:

  1. WECHAT_MP_ENV_FILE
  2. ./.env
  3. ./.secrets/wechat-mp.env
  4. the same files inside this skill directory
  5. ~/.wechat-mp.env

Existing environment variables win over file values.

Never commit AppID, AppSecret, access tokens, article JSON, or private generated drafts.

API Preflight

Before any live WeChat API call, check whether the user has already configured the local WeChat API setup.

If WECHAT_MP_APPID and WECHAT_MP_APPSECRET are missing from environment variables and the known env files, ask first:

你本机已经配置公众号 API 了吗?
需要有 WECHAT_MP_APPID 和 WECHAT_MP_APPSECRET。
如果还没有,请先在本地创建 .secrets/wechat-mp.env;不要把 AppSecret 发到聊天里。

If the user has credentials but has not confirmed the current machine IP is in the WeChat Official Account IP whitelist, ask them to do the IP whitelist step before running a real upload.

Only proceed to publish_draft.py when:

  • AppID/AppSecret are available locally, and
  • the current public IP is confirmed in the WeChat API whitelist, and
  • the user has approved creating a draft.

First Live API Check

Before a real WeChat API call from a new network, get the current IP:

curl -s https://api.ipify.org

Tell the user to add it in:

公众号后台 -> 设置与开发 -> 基本设置 -> IP 白名单

If the API returns 40164, the current IP is not allowlisted.

Read references/wechat-api.md when endpoint details or WeChat errors matter.

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
