infinitecampus-api

infinitecampus-api is a skill for Claude Code from chrischall/infinitecampus-mcp. It costs 110 tokens per session (1,543 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command-line method for querying an Infinite Campus Campus Parent portal, a district-specific school website. It logs in with curl, saves the session, and requests school records directly instead of running an MCP server.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to request grades, attendance, assignments, schedules, messages, documents, and fees from an Infinite Campus portal. It relies on curl and jq plus the district URL, district name, username, and password.
Why use it?
It provides a direct way to retrieve portal data without a browser bridge or separate server process. Each district has its own portal address and requires real parent-account credentials.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00110 $0.01543
Opus 5 $0.00055 $0.00772
Sonnet 5 $0.00022 $0.00309
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00154

Security

Grade A, and why

infinitecampus-api scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Query an Infinite Campus (Campus Parent portal) district directly with curl

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 143 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Infinite Campus via curl (no MCP)

Infinite Campus's Campus Parent portal is a classic server-rendered site (no public API, no bot wall). A plain form POST to verify.jsp logs a parent in and hands back a session cookie — no browser bridge needed. This is the same login infinitecampus-mcp's src/client.ts/src/auth.ts do; this skill reproduces it with curl + a cookie jar.

Infinite Campus is per-district. Every parent's portal lives at their own district's host (https://campus.<district>.k12.example.us or similar) under an appName path segment. There is no shared IC endpoint — carry the base URL and district from the same config the MCP uses:

: "${IC_BASE_URL:?set to your district's portal URL, e.g. https://campus.yourdistrict.org}"
: "${IC_DISTRICT:?set to the appName path segment, e.g. yourdistrict}"
: "${IC_USERNAME:?parent portal username}"
: "${IC_PASSWORD:?parent portal password}"

(Same 4 env vars the MCP reads — reuse the repo's .env or the host's secret store; don't hardcode a district.)

One-time setup

None — curl and jq are the only tools needed (brew install jq if missing). No profile/pairing step, no extension.

Login (capture cookies + XSRF token)

verify.jsp accepts a urlencoded form POST and returns 200 with an <AUTHENTICATION>state</AUTHENTICATION> marker in the body — not via HTTP status — plus ~20 Set-Cookie headers. Use a cookie jar so curl does the Set-Cookie parsing/deduping for you:

JAR=$(mktemp)
BODY=$(curl -sS -c "$JAR" \
  "$IC_BASE_URL/campus/verify.jsp?nonBrowser=true" \
  --data-urlencode "username=$IC_USERNAME" \
  --data-urlencode "password=$IC_PASSWORD" \
  --data-urlencode "appName=$IC_DISTRICT" \
  --data-urlencode "portalLoginPage=parents")

echo "$BODY" | grep -o '<AUTHENTICATION>[^<]*' # AUTHENTICATIONsuccess = good

password-error / account-locked / any non-success state means the login failed — check that string before doing anything else. Credentials go in the form body (never the query string — it lands in access logs).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

infinitecampus-api is a skill published in the GitHub repository chrischall/infinitecampus-mcp (3 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 110 tokens to every session and 1,543 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
