ryk-protect

ryk-protect is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from christopherkarani/ryk. It costs 0 tokens per session (294 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Guidance for running a Codex workflow under ryk, a local supervisor that checks commands and other actions against safety rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Check ryk readiness and find the command pattern for launching Codex with supervision.
Why use it?
It clarifies the difference between advisory lifecycle hooks and the stronger protection provided by starting the agent process through ryk.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00294
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00147
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00059
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00029

Measured 6d ago against content hash dff0fc6141df, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ryk-protect scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

ryk-protect

Explain how to run the current Codex workflow under ryk protection.

When to use

Use this skill when you want to ensure the current Codex session or command runs inside ryk supervision.

Strongest protection

The strongest local protection is running the Codex process itself through ryk:

ryk run -- <codex-command>

If the exact Codex invocation is unknown, run the Codex CLI through ryk using the command you normally use to start Codex.

What the plugin provides

The Codex plugin adds:

  • Native skills for doctor, init, protect, redteam, and replay.
  • Lifecycle hooks that call ryk hook codex <event> for safety checks.

Important limitation

The Codex plugin adds native skills and lifecycle hooks. The strongest protection remains running the agent process through ryk run.

Hooks are advisory and additive. They do not replace the supervision that ryk run provides over the child process.

Quick check

Verify ryk is ready:

ryk plugin doctor codex

Notes

  • This skill does not modify host configuration.
  • The plugin does not collect telemetry. A user-invoked ryk run wrapper may record only fixed anonymous CLI metadata; see docs/telemetry.md.
  • Hooks call the ryk CLI; they do not duplicate policy logic.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
