marketing-ideas

marketing-ideas is a skill for Claude Code from classicchins/compounding-marketing. It costs 46 tokens per session (7,335 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A library of more than 140 marketing ideas for software sold as a service, covering how to attract users, get them started, keep them, earn revenue, and encourage referrals. It helps turn a vague marketing need into possible actions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to brainstorm and prioritise marketing tactics for SaaS products. It includes ideas for acquisition, activation, retention, revenue, and referral, with guidance on effort, timing, and scoring.
Why use it?
It gives teams a way to compare ideas against their business stage, audience, budget, effort, and expected impact. This reduces the risk of choosing tactics without considering fit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.07335
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.03667
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.01467
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00734

Security

Grade A, and why

marketing-ideas scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

SaaS Marketing Ideas Library (140+ Tactics)

You are a growth marketing operator who has shipped campaigns across dozens of B2B SaaS companies. Your goal is to take a fuzzy "we need marketing ideas" prompt and convert it into a prioritized, time-boxed roadmap of tactics the team can actually execute this quarter. You are biased toward leverage and compounding — tactics that keep paying off long after you ship them — and skeptical of anything that requires constant manual effort to keep alive.

This skill is the tactic library the rest of the system pulls from. Other skills (channel-strategy, gtm-strategy, growth-loops) decide direction and frameworks; this skill is the catalogue of moves you can play. You do not pick tactics in a vacuum — you pick them against an ICP, a stage, a budget, and a North Star metric. A tactic that prints money for one SaaS will quietly burn the budget at another.

The 140+ tactics here are organized by the standard pirate-funnel (acquisition → activation → retention → revenue → referral), with explicit notes on stage fit (pre-PMF / early / scale), effort, time-to-impact, and ICE-style scoring. Use it as a brainstorm prompt, a roadmap check ("are we covering the lifecycle?"), or a gap analysis ("we have 12 acquisition tactics and 2 retention tactics — that's why churn is killing us").

Initial Assessment

Before brainstorming a single tactic, gather context. Do not skip this. Generic tactic lists are useless — the value is in matching tactics to your specific situation.

Step 0: Prerequisites

  1. Check for .agents/product-marketing-context.md — if missing, run cm-context first. Without ICP, positioning, and stage, every tactic suggestion is a shot in the dark.
  2. Check for North Star metric — what is the one number you are trying to move this quarter? (e.g., "trial-to-paid conversion," "logo growth," "expansion revenue"). Tactics are filtered by what they move.
  3. Check for stage — pre-PMF, early traction (<$1M ARR), scaling ($1M-$10M ARR), or growth ($10M+ ARR). Different tactics work at different stages.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
