demo-research-brief

demo-research-brief is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from cobibean/shared-skills-registry-mcp. It costs 29 tokens per session (260 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An example skill bundle for testing a shared registry, a service that lists and distributes reusable agent skills. It demonstrates finding, retrieving, checking, and installing a small research-brief skill.

In plain words
What is it for?
Testing skill discovery and installation, retrieving files with checksums, confirming installation boundaries, and preparing a short research brief from public source notes.
Why use it?
It gives developers a complete sample workflow for verifying that registry files can be downloaded, checked, installed, and kept in the intended directory.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.00260
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00130
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00026

Measured 12d ago against content hash 67f6c0671b3b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

demo-research-brief scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Example: Demo Research Brief

Example skill: This bundle exists to demonstrate Open SSR. It is intentionally small and is not presented as a production research methodology.

Use it to test the complete registry path:

  1. List or search for demo-research-brief.
  2. Describe its registry metadata.
  3. Retrieve SKILL.md and templates/brief.md with checksums.
  4. Install it into a configured scratch skills directory.
  5. Confirm the installed files remain inside that directory.

Example workflow

  1. Identify a topic and audience.
  2. Collect public source notes.
  3. Summarize the key claims.
  4. Flag uncertainty and missing evidence.
  5. Fill in templates/brief.md with a concise brief and next steps.

Completion criterion

The example is complete when a fresh client can retrieve both files, verify their checksums, install them into a scratch skills root, and read the installed SKILL.md.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
