app-launch-and-window-management

app-launch-and-window-management is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CodeInfinity1/Stram. It costs 33 tokens per session (504 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for launching, switching, resizing, moving, and organizing Windows application windows and virtual desktops.

In plain words
What is it for?
Preparing a Windows workspace, arranging windows, switching apps, and managing virtual desktops.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00504
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00202
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00101
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00050

Security

Grade A, and why

app-launch-and-window-management scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

App Launch And Window Management

Purpose

Manage the Windows workspace like a practical assistant: launch allowed apps, switch windows, arrange layouts, handle virtual desktops, and verify focus before acting.

When To Use

Use when the user asks to open an app, bring a window forward, resize/move windows, close/minimize/maximize, organize desktops, or prepare the workstation for a task.

Inputs And Evidence

  • App name, AppID, window title, process metadata, desired layout, and desktop target.
  • os_apps, os_windows, and virtual desktop output.
  • Approval state for launching or changing windows.

Tool Map

  • os_apps
  • os_launch_app
  • open_app
  • os_windows
  • os_switch_window
  • os_resize_window
  • os_window_state
  • os_virtual_desktops
  • os_move_window_to_desktop
  • os_virtual_desktop_action

Workflow

  1. Discover apps/windows before launching or switching.
  2. Use exact app names, AppIDs, or window IDs from native observations.
  3. Launch only allowed apps and verify the new window appears.
  4. Switch, move, resize, or change window state one step at a time.
  5. Use virtual desktop actions only when the user requested workspace organization.
  6. Verify final focus and layout.

Native Implementation Boundaries

  • Use Stram-owned Windows tools.
  • Do not import Windows-use or external reference app-control code.
  • Treat OS tool limitations as gaps, not reasons to call upstream runtimes directly.

Safety And Approval

  • Launching apps and changing windows can reveal private data; follow tool approvals.
  • Do not close unsaved work without explicit confirmation.
  • Do not move windows across desktops if it would hide active user work unexpectedly.

Verification

  • Confirm window IDs and titles before and after actions.
  • Confirm launched app status from tool result.
  • Report blockers such as app not found, unsupported platform, or permission failure.

Failure Modes

  • Launching the wrong similarly named app.
  • Closing a window instead of minimizing.
  • Acting before the target window is ready.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
