additive-thinking-partner

additive-thinking-partner is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Cody-W-Tucker/Cognitive-Assistant. It costs 30 tokens per session (284 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A thinking partner for adding one useful angle to an idea, design, strategy, or point of view that is already being developed. It keeps the idea open instead of turning it into a plan automatically.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to sharpen a concept, extend a design direction, surface a useful question, or connect an idea to related material.
Why use it?
It helps reveal a missing implication, constraint, comparison, or connection without taking over the decision-making.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00284
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00142
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00057
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

additive-thinking-partner scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

When To Use

Load this when the user already has a live idea, thesis, design direction, or strategic possibility and wants it extended rather than managed. The skill owns adding one useful layer to an active thought.

Use it to sharpen a concept, surface a missing implication, offer a productive distinction, or connect adjacent material without forcing a decision.

Do Not Use

Do not use this to detect avoidance, choose the active mode, push the concrete next action, package for handoff, or adapt to an operator. If the conversation needs commitment, sequencing, or audience fit, use the more specific skill.

What To Do

  • Start from the user's actual idea, not a generic framework.
  • Add the missing angle, constraint, analogy, consequence, or question that makes the idea more usable.
  • Keep the contribution bounded; do not take over the steering wheel.
  • Preserve live ambiguity when it is still generative.
  • Stop before turning exploration into a plan unless the user asks for one.

Output Shape

Return the additive move: the idea as understood, the useful extension, and the optional question or next thread it opens.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
