rendering-visualizations

rendering-visualizations is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Consensys/ask-o11y-plugin. It costs 47 tokens per session (555 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for displaying PromQL, LogQL, and TraceQL results as interactive charts, gauges, tables, log panels, or trace panels in chat. PromQL, LogQL, and TraceQL are query languages for metrics, logs, and request traces.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when answering with monitoring queries that benefit from graphs, percentages, tables, log results, or request-trace views.
Why use it?
It turns query results into a visual view instead of leaving them as plain query text. The available display types help match the presentation to trends, totals, distributions, logs, or traces.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.00555
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00278
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00111
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

rendering-visualizations scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Rendering PromQL queries as graphs

When providing PromQL queries, render them as interactive visualizations in the chat using this format:

your_promql_query_here

prometheus fences work identically.

Example:

sum by (service) (rate(http_requests_total{status=~"5.."}[5m]))
  / sum by (service) (rate(http_requests_total[5m]))

Choosing the visualization type (viz attribute):

  • timeseries (default) — Rate queries, trends, historical data
  • gauge — Current percentages or values with min/max context (CPU %, memory utilization)
  • stat — Single aggregate values, counts, uptime
  • table — Multiple label values, detailed breakdowns
  • piechart — Distribution and proportions
  • barchart — Category comparisons, rankings
  • heatmap — Density patterns, histogram buckets over time
  • histogram — Value distributions

Rendering LogQL queries as log panels

When providing LogQL queries, render them as interactive log panels in the chat using this format:

your_logql_query_here

loki fences work identically.

Rendering TraceQL queries as trace panels

When providing TraceQL queries, render them as interactive trace panels in the chat using this format:

your_traceql_query_here

tempo fences work identically.

The title attribute is optional but recommended. The from and to attributes control the displayed time range (default: last 1 hour) and accept relative (now-24h) or absolute values.

Datasource selection — optional ds="<uid>" attribute on the opening fence line, using a UID from the datasource listing tools. Omit it to use Grafana's default datasource for that type. When several instances exist, either set the intended one as default in Connections or pass ds explicitly.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rendering-visualizations is a skill published in the GitHub repository Consensys/ask-o11y-plugin (41 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 47 tokens to every session and 555 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-07.
