modx-cms

modx-cms is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from crecorn/MODX-ClaudeSkill-. It costs 130 tokens per session (1,525 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of tools for developing websites and managing content in MODX Revolution, a content management system. It covers templates, reusable page fragments, dynamic code, settings, links, and common MODX add-ons.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build MODX templates, chunks, snippets, forms, SEO features, image handling, and schema markup. It also explains output formatting and when dynamic content should avoid caching.
Why use it?
MODX uses its own tags and rules for inserting content and running code, which can be difficult to remember or troubleshoot. This guidance gives developers a reference for writing and debugging those parts.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00130 $0.01525
Opus 5 $0.00065 $0.00763
Sonnet 5 $0.00026 $0.00305
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00153

Measured 8d ago against content hash b191f1aa19d2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

modx-cms scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

MODX CMS Development

Expert guidance for MODX Revolution websites.

Tag Syntax Quick Reference

[[SnippetName]] Cached snippet
[[!SnippetName]] Uncached snippet (per-request)
[[$ChunkName]] Chunk (HTML)
[[*fieldname]] Resource field (pagetitle, content, alias, etc.)
[[++settingKey]]          System/Context setting
[[~resourceId]] Link to resource
[[+placeholder]] Placeholder from snippet/chunk

Output Modifiers

[[*pagetitle:striptags:limit=`60`]]
[[*field:default=`fallback value`]]
[[+date:strtotime:date=`%B %d, %Y`]]
[[*content:nl2br]]

Parameters

[[SnippetName? &param=`value` &other=`[[*field]]`]]
[[$ChunkName? &title=`[[*pagetitle]]` &class=`card`]]

Critical Syntax Rules

  1. Resource fields use asterisk: [[*pagetitle]], [[*content]], [[*alias]]
  2. Placeholders use plus: [[+title]], [[+idx]], [[+wrapper]]
  3. TV names must be single words: heroImage not hero_image or hero-image
  4. Uncached (!) only when dynamic: session data, user input, time-based
  5. Nested tags resolve inner-first: [[Snippet? &id=[[*parent]]]]

Core Extras Stack

Common Patterns

pdoResources Listing

[[pdoResources?
  &parents=`[[*id]]`
  &limit=`12`
  &tpl=`tplCard`
  &includeTVs=`heroImage,introText`
  &processTVs=`1`
  &tvPrefix=``
  &sortby=`menuindex`
  &sortdir=`ASC`
]]

pdoMenu Navigation

[[pdoMenu?

  &level=`2`
  &tplOuter=`@INLINE <ul class="nav">[[+wrapper]]</ul>`
  &tpl=`@INLINE <li><a href="[[+link]]">[[+menutitle]]</a>[[+wrapper]]</li>`
  &tplParentRow=`@INLINE <li class="has-children"><a href="[[+link]]">[[+menutitle]]</a>[[+wrapper]]</li>`
  &tplInner=`@INLINE <ul class="dropdown">[[+wrapper]]</ul>`
]]

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
