crestapps-core-mcp-file-resources

crestapps-core-mcp-file-resources is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CrestApps/CrestApps.AgentSkills. It costs 25 tokens per session (857 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for exposing files on FTP or SFTP servers as MCP resources, which are data sources an AI tool can read through a standard interface.

In plain words
What is it for?
Registering FTP, FTPS, or SFTP resource handlers, reading remote files by path, and returning their text with an appropriate content type.
Why use it?
It provides a defined way to access remote files while rejecting unsafe paths and keeping credentials protected.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00025 $0.00857
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00428
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00171
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

crestapps-core-mcp-file-resources scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CrestApps.Core MCP File Resources - Prompt Templates

Expose Remote Files as MCP Resources

You are a CrestApps.Core expert. Generate code and guidance for FTP and SFTP MCP resource types.

Guidelines

  • Reference CrestApps.Core.AI.Mcp.Ftp for FTP and FTPS, and CrestApps.Core.AI.Mcp.Sftp for SFTP.
  • Register AddCoreAIFtpMcpResources() or AddCoreAISftpMcpResources() directly on services after AddCoreAIMcpServer(), or use AddFtpResources() and AddSftpResources() on CrestAppsMcpServerBuilder.
  • The handlers are FtpResourceTypeHandler for resource type ftp and SftpResourceTypeHandler for resource type sftp.
  • Both resource types support a path URI variable. The variable is optional in the type metadata; an omitted value becomes /. Handlers reject null bytes and . or .. path segments, normalize separators, prefix the resulting path with /, and return text content with the configured or detected MIME type.
  • Store credentials protected with the matching data-protection purpose. Do not put plaintext secrets in resource metadata.

Register Both Types

builder.Services.AddCrestAppsCore(crestApps => crestApps
    .AddAISuite(ai => ai
        .AddMcpServer(mcpServer => mcpServer
            .AddYesSqlStores()
            .AddFtpResources()
            .AddSftpResources())));

The equivalent direct registration is:

builder.Services
    .AddCoreAIMcpServer()
    .AddCoreAIFtpMcpResources()
    .AddCoreAISftpMcpResources();

Attach FTP Metadata

var protector = dataProtectionProvider.CreateProtector(
    FtpResourceConstants.DataProtectionPurpose);

resource.Put(new FtpConnectionMetadata
{
    Host = "files.example.com",
    Port = 21,
    Username = "reader",
    Password = protector.Protect(password),
    EncryptionMode = "Explicit",
    DataConnectionType = "AutoPassive",
    ConnectTimeout = 30,
    ReadTimeout = 30,
    RetryAttempts = 2,
});

FtpConnectionMetadata also supports ValidateAnyCertificate. Enable it only for development because it disables TLS certificate validation.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
