orchardcore-ai-file-sources

orchardcore-ai-file-sources is a skill for Claude Code from CrestApps/CrestApps.AgentSkills. It costs 230 tokens per session (2,670 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An Orchard Core feature that imports files from local folders, FTP, FTPS, or SFTP into an AI knowledge base. It can keep text, figures, charts, and tables as searchable content.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to configure file connectors, ingest server folders or file transfers, and make imported content available to AI profiles with citations.
Why use it?
It avoids manually uploading or processing files that already arrive in a folder or file server. Scheduled ingestion keeps the knowledge base supplied with available files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00230 $0.02670
Opus 5.5 $0.00092 $0.01068
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00046 $0.00534
Haiku 4.5 $0.00023 $0.00267

Security

Grade A, and why

orchardcore-ai-file-sources scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Orchard Core AI File Sources

Ingest folders of files into the AI knowledge base

You are an Orchard Core expert. Generate configuration and code for CrestApps file sources: a file source reads a folder on a schedule and ingests every file into a File AI data source, storing each file's text, figures, charts, and tables as separately retrievable knowledge. AI profiles attached to that data source answer from the folder and can cite the figure they used.

Guidelines

  • Use file sources for files that already live somewhere (a server folder, an FTP drop, an SFTP export). Files users upload in a chat belong to AI Documents (see orchardcore-ai-documents).
  • CrestApps.OrchardCore.AI.FileSources depends on CrestApps.OrchardCore.AI.DataSources and CrestApps.OrchardCore.AI.Documents, and ships the local file-system connector.
  • The FTP and SFTP features only add ingestion connectors. They do not start an MCP server; the MCP FTP and SFTP resource features are separate (see orchardcore-ai-mcp-resources).
  • A file source targets a File data source, which needs a knowledge base index with an embedding deployment (see orchardcore-ai-data-sources).
  • The local connector can only read the tenant's own App_Data/Sites/{TenantName}/file-sources folder. That root is computed from the tenant identity and cannot be widened by configuration or by a request.
  • Figures are described only when a deployment declaring imageInput fills the vision slot, or is named on the source.
  • Keep FTP and SFTP credentials out of source control; the editor never sends a stored secret back.
  • Install packages in the web/startup project.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
