orchardcore-github-authentication

orchardcore-github-authentication is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CrestApps/CrestApps.AgentSkills. It costs 98 tokens per session (501 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup guide for letting Orchard Core users sign in with GitHub through OAuth, a method for granting access without sharing a password with the site. It covers GitHub app credentials, callback URLs, and token storage.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to enable GitHub login, register callback paths, configure client credentials, apply recipes, and handle changes in the Orchard Core 3.0 APIs.
Why use it?
It avoids building a separate account-password flow and documents the settings needed for GitHub's login redirect to work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00098 $0.00501
Opus 5 $0.00049 $0.00251
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00100
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00050

Security

Grade A, and why

orchardcore-github-authentication scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Orchard Core GitHub Authentication

Enable OrchardCore.GitHub.Authentication; it depends on OrchardCore.Users.ExternalAuthentication. Configure it at Settings → Security → Authentication → GitHub.

The persisted GitHubAuthenticationSettings properties are ClientID, ClientSecret, CallbackPath, and SaveTokens. The default callback path is /signin-github. Register the tenant's full HTTPS callback URL with the GitHub OAuth App.

Orchard Core 3.0 API changes

The GitHub integration uses the AspNet.Security.OAuth.GitHub package. The old GithubDefault, GithubOptions, GithubHandler, and IGithubAuthenticationService APIs are removed. Use the package's GitHubAuthenticationDefaults, GitHubAuthenticationOptions, and GitHubAuthenticationHandler types, or the Orchard Core settings and registration APIs described below.

The GitHubAuthenticationSettings recipe step deliberately uses ConsumerKey and ConsumerSecret, which the handler maps to the persisted client ID and secret:

{
  "steps": [
    {
      "name": "Feature",
      "enable": [
        "OrchardCore.GitHub.Authentication"
      ]
    },
    {
      "name": "GitHubAuthenticationSettings",
      "ConsumerKey": "github-oauth-client-id",
      "ConsumerSecret": "supply-from-a-secret-store",
      "CallbackPath": "/signin-github"
    }
  ]
}

Use ConfigureGitHubSettings() for host configuration overrides, and keep client secrets out of committed configuration. Enable OrchardCore.Users.Registration only when external visitors may create local accounts. Authentication does not grant Orchard roles or permissions.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
