orchardcore-module-creator

orchardcore-module-creator is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CrestApps/CrestApps.AgentSkills. It costs 205 tokens per session (1,442 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating Orchard Core permission providers. A permission provider defines the actions that users or roles are allowed to perform in an Orchard Core feature.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add feature permissions, assign default role access, and organise shared permission and content-part models in the recommended projects.
Why use it?
It removes uncertainty about the required interfaces, class structure, role constants, and project locations. This helps keep permissions reusable and consistent across a codebase.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00205 $0.01442
Opus 5.5 $0.00082 $0.00577
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00041 $0.00288
Haiku 4.5 $0.00020 $0.00144

Security

Grade A, and why

orchardcore-module-creator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Orchard Core Module Creator

This skill is for contributing a module to the Orchard Core source repository. For a module owned by an application that consumes Orchard Core packages, use the orchardcore-modules skill instead.

Prerequisites

  • OrchardCore repository (working directory)
  • .NET SDK 10.0+ installed

Module Creation Workflow

Step 1: Determine Module Type

What kind of module are you creating?

Type Description Key Components
Content Part Adds data/behavior to content items Part, Driver, Views
Content Field Custom field type Field, Driver, Views
Settings Site-wide configuration SiteSettings, Driver
Admin Feature Admin pages/tools Controller, Views, Menu
API REST endpoints Minimal API endpoint class + Startup route registration
Background Task Scheduled jobs IBackgroundTask

Step 2: Create Module Directory

# Create module folder
mkdir src/OrchardCore.Modules/OrchardCore.YourModule
cd src/OrchardCore.Modules/OrchardCore.YourModule

Step 3: Create Required Files

Every module needs these three files:

  1. Manifest.cs - Module metadata
  2. Startup.cs - Service registration
  3. OrchardCore.YourModule.csproj - Project file

See references/module-structure.md for templates.

Step 4: Add Components Based on Type

For Content Part modules:

Models/YourPart.cs
ViewModels/YourPartViewModel.cs
Drivers/YourPartDisplayDriver.cs
Views/YourPart.cshtml
Views/YourPart_Edit.cshtml

For Admin modules:

Controllers/AdminController.cs
Views/Admin/Index.cshtml
AdminMenu.cs
PermissionProvider.cs

For Data-storing modules:

Migrations.cs
Indexes/YourIndex.cs

See references/patterns.md for code templates.

Step 5: Register in Startup.cs

public override void ConfigureServices(IServiceCollection services)
{
    // Content part
    services.AddContentPart<YourPart>()
        .UseDisplayDriver<YourPartDisplayDriver>();

    // Services
    services.AddScoped<IYourService, YourService>();

    // Migrations (if storing data)
    services.AddDataMigration<Migrations>();

    // Permissions (if securing features)
    services.AddPermissionProvider<PermissionProvider>();

    // Navigation (if adding admin menu)
    services.AddNavigationProvider<AdminMenu>();
}

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 205 tokens to every session and 1,442 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-12.
