orchardcore-shape-discovery

orchardcore-shape-discovery is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CrestApps/CrestApps.AgentSkills. It costs 105 tokens per session (2,910 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to finding the Orchard Core rendering component responsible for visible output and changing it safely. Orchard Core calls these components shapes, and the guide explains how to identify their templates and choose an override.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect rendered pages, identify shape types and templates, and customise frontend or admin output with alternates, wrappers, placement rules, Liquid, or Razor.
Why use it?
It prevents changes to the wrong template, especially when similar fields or content types share output. It also helps preserve nested content while changing only the intended part of a page.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.02910
Opus 5.5 $0.00042 $0.01164
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00582
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00291

Security

Grade A, and why

orchardcore-shape-discovery scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Orchard Core Shape Discovery

Use this skill before changing the visual output of an existing Orchard Core site. The rendered page is the source of truth: discover the shape type and binding first, then select the least invasive override that can produce the requested design.

Core Rules

  • Orchard Core renders a tree of shapes, not a single MVC view or a block of HTML.
  • Treat type, bindings, nesting, URL, content type, display type, and the active theme as evidence. Do not invent a shape name from a CSS class or a part name.
  • A shape type, a binding, a template name, and a placement key are related but are not always identical.
  • A binding identifies the template or code that rendered the shape. The logical shape type identifies the shape used by placement and binding resolution.
  • A repeated shape type can represent different fields or parts. Use the differentiator, surrounding shape tree, content definition, and request context to distinguish instances.
  • Prefer a specific alternate or wrapper over replacing a generic template. Preserve child zones by rendering them when the design only changes the container.
  • Use placement to move or hide output. Do not create an empty template to hide a shape.
  • Keep shape debugging enabled only during development or controlled staging work. Debug comments expose implementation details in the response.

Runtime Feature Map

Feature Use it for Scope and behavior
OrchardCore.Liquid Secure Liquid execution and Liquid filters/tags Required by admin-authored Liquid templates.
OrchardCore.Templates Create frontend Liquid shape templates from the admin UI Overrides frontend shapes for the active frontend theme.
OrchardCore.AdminTemplates Create admin Liquid shape templates from the admin UI Overrides shapes rendered by the active admin theme. Treat its management permission as sensitive.
OrchardCore.Placements Move, hide, substitute, alternate, or wrap shapes Admin-defined rules are stored per tenant and take precedence over theme and module placement rules.
OrchardCore.Placements.FileStorage Store placement rules in a file Use only when the tenant is configured for file-based placement storage.
DebugSettings.WriteShapeDebugInformation Add shape start/end comments to rendered HTML Configure in Settings → Debugging → Write shape debug information.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
