everything-http-server

everything-http-server is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from daidaiJ/websearch-mcpserver. It costs 94 tokens per session (1,923 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Windows setup guide for enabling Everything’s read-only HTTP search server. Everything is a desktop file-search tool; its HTTP server lets another local tool search files through a web request.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps configure the server, choose the correct version-specific method, set a port and password, prevent file downloads, and verify searches with command-line requests.
Why use it?
It handles the different setup paths in Everything 1.4 and 1.5, including a configuration issue where stopping the running program can overwrite changes. It also covers checking that the service works and limiting access to the local computer.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00094 $0.01923
Opus 5.5 $0.00038 $0.00769
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00385
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00192

Security

Grade A, and why

everything-http-server scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Everything HTTP Server

Linux 发行版不建议启用,除非 WSL(url 指向 Windows 宿主,WSL2 镜像网络或 localhost 转发可达时才能探测通过)。
pwsh -NoProfile -Command "(Get-Process Everything -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Select-Object -First 1).Path"
pwsh -NoProfile -Command "(Get-Item '<exe 路径>').VersionInfo.ProductVersion"

1. Everything 1.4:内建 HTTP Server

1.4 默认 http_server_enabled=0。

Everything:

http_server_enabled=1
http_server_port=4180
http_server_bindings=127.0.0.1
http_server_username=<用户名>
http_server_password=<强口令>
http_server_allow_file_download=0

然后启动 Everything.exe,进入 §3 验证。

1.5a 把 HTTP Server 从核心移成了独立插件(voidtools/http_server),Everything.ini 里的 http_server_* 键全部无效——这是从 1.4 文档迁移过来时最容易踩的坑。

  • 插件 dll 放 <安装目录>\Plugins\http_server64.dll(官方 release zip 解压,或运行官方 Setup 让 Everything 自己解包)。
  • 设置文件是 <安装目录>\Plugins.ini(或 %APPDATA%\Everything\Plugins.ini),不是 Everything.ini,也不是老帖里的 plugins-1.5a.ini(1.0.5.x 已改写 Plugins.ini)。

Everything)

插件优雅退出时会自己把设置回写进 Plugins.ini 的 [http_server64.dll] 段。

# 若 Plugins.ini 已有该段:sed/Edit 直接改段内键值
[http_server64.dll]
enabled=1
port=4180
bindings=127.0.0.1
username=<用户名>
password=<强口令>
allow_file_download=0

⚠️ 1.0.5.x 的 allow_full_access 等细粒度权限键实测通过 ini 不生效(疑似账户级能力), 需要细粒度权限请在 GUI(选项 → HTTP Server)配置;allow_file_download=0 经 ini 可靠生效。

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

everything-http-server is a skill published in the GitHub repository daidaiJ/websearch-mcpserver (25 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 94 tokens to every session and 1,923 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-10.
