Profile

Profile is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from danielmiessler/LifeOS. It costs 108 tokens per session (1,377 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A profile editor for persistent identity information used across sessions, such as goals, preferences, and constraints. It can show, update, or reset that information without deleting the profile file.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps view the current profile, correct identity or preference details, and clear the profile back to its blank template.
Why use it?
Important personal context can become outdated or hard to inspect. This gives it one visible place and lets the user change only what they request.

About the project

LifeOS is an AI-assisted personal operating system that records a person’s goals, values, context, and current situation to help move them toward a desired future state. It supports work such as building applications, starting businesses, and creative projects. Its catalogue entries extend the system through skills, hooks, agents, and commands.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00108 $0.01377
Opus 5.5 $0.00043 $0.00551
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00275
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00138

Security

Grade A, and why

Profile scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 91 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Profile Skill

Views, edits, or resets the LifeOS User Model — the PRINCIPAL_IDENTITY.md file that holds persistent identity context and loads at the start of every session through the CLAUDE.md @-import. Three operations: View shows the current model, Edit updates its sections, and Clear resets it to a blank template (it never deletes the file). The Algorithm reads it when writing ISCs and choosing capabilities, and other skills read it for personalization, so this skill keeps that context visible and current in one place.

Ideal State

  • The identity file always exists and loads at startup; Clear replaces its contents and never deletes it.
  • Every change touches only what the principal asked for, leaves the Memory-System Proposals queue to the memory curation loop, and bumps last_updated but never last_reviewed, so the freshness grade stays honest.
  • Clear never overwrites the file without a verified backup and the principal's explicit yes.
  • The file holds context about who the principal is, never executable directives (those belong in CLAUDE.md or the system prompt).
  • Off-limits categories (health, relationship, financial details) enter the file only when the principal explicitly asks for them.

Intent Routing

Intent Trigger File
View "profile", "show profile", "view profile", "who am I", "my profile" Intents/View.md
Edit "edit profile", "update profile", "change profile" Intents/Edit.md
Clear "clear profile", "delete profile", "reset profile" Intents/Clear.md
File Read when
Setup.md first-time setup, a worked example of the identity file on made-up values, and the read-only proof commands

Data & Config

The User Model lives at ~/.claude/LIFEOS/USER/PRINCIPAL/PRINCIPAL_IDENTITY.md (in a standard install LIFEOS/USER is a symlink to ~/.config/LIFEOS/USER, which may be its own private git repo) as markdown with the lifeos-freshness-v1 frontmatter (LIFEOS/DOCUMENTATION/Freshness/FreshnessSystem.md):

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

Profile is a skill published in the GitHub repository danielmiessler/LifeOS (19,631 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 108 tokens to every session and 1,377 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-28.
