before-after

before-after is a skill for Claude Code from dansasser/claude-code-marketplace. It costs 26 tokens per session (375 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for creating a video that compares an old approach with a new one. It presents several differences, such as effort, speed, cost, reliability, or results, in separate scenes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it with a researched URL or a description of both approaches. It can plan three or four comparisons, followed by a conclusion and call to action.
Why use it?
It helps turn a general comparison into clear visual contrasts with supporting details. This makes the disadvantages of the old approach and the benefits of the new one easier to follow.

Per session 26 Skills are progressive disclosure: only the name and description are preloaded; the body loads when the skill is used.
When invoked 375 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.
Security scan A 0 findings. A grade says what 26 rules found in the file — not that it is safe.
Origin original No closer match found in the catalogue.
Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00026 $0.00375
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00187
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00038

Measured 8d ago against content hash 7d844321f6f0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

before-after scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Use the Remotion best practices skill (SKILL.md at the plugin root). Follow its scene planning algorithm for all production steps.

Before & After Comparison

Input

$ARGUMENTS

Questionnaire

If not answered by the input, ask:

  1. What's being compared? — URL to research, or describe the old way vs new way
  2. How many comparisons? — Default: 3-4 pain points vs solutions
  3. Tone? — Default: dramatic contrast. Other options: humorous, factual, empathetic

Script

Research the source. Identify 3-4 clear contrasts between the old way and the new way — cost, speed, reliability, effort, results. Each contrast needs a concrete detail (numbers, timeframes, real consequences). Present for approval before building.

Scene Structure

  • Scene 1: Hook — state the frustration with the old way
  • Scene 2-4: Comparisons — one per scene, old way (red/negative) vs new way (green/positive). Show both sides with clear visual contrast.
  • Scene 5: CTA — the clear winner, what to do next

Visual Approach

  • Strong color contrast: red/muted for "before", green/bright for "after"
  • Each comparison can be split screen, sequential reveal, or strike-through the old way
  • Numbers and stats animate in — cost comparisons, time saved, failure rates
  • B-roll can match the context (frustration footage for before, clean/modern for after)
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

before-after is a skill published in the GitHub repository dansasser/claude-code-marketplace (9 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 375 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
