mcp4openapi: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/prepare-release-publishing/SKILL.md

prepare-release-publishing is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from davidruzicka/mcp4openapi. It costs 76 tokens per session (372 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release-preparation tool for increasing a project's patch, minor, or major version and updating its change log.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare releases by updating package.json, adding a dated entry under the Unreleased section of CHANGELOG.md, and checking that both versions agree.
Why use it?
Manually changing version numbers and release headings can produce mismatches or place notes in the wrong section.

This is davidruzicka/mcp4openapi's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on mcp4openapi itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp4openapi configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00076 $0.00372
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00149
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00074
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00037

Measured 1mo ago against content hash f68fc16a0c11, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

prepare-release-publishing scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/prepare-release-publishing.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Release Publishing

Run this skill from repository root.

Inputs

  • Release part: patch, minor, or major.

Procedure

  1. Run ./.claude/skills/prepare-release-publishing/scripts/prepare-release-publishing.sh <patch|minor|major>.
  2. Confirm output reports:
  • current version from package.json
  • target version computed from package.json
  • inserted CHANGELOG heading in format ## [x.y.z] - YYYY-MM-DD
  • successful npm version <part> --no-git-tag-version
  • final consistency check passed

Guardrails

  • Derive next version only from package.json, never from CHANGELOG.md.
  • Insert the release heading directly below ## [Unreleased].
  • Keep existing Unreleased notes in place.
  • Fail if CHANGELOG.md has no ## [Unreleased] section.
  • Fail if computed target version and final package.json version differ.
  • Support patch, minor, and major only.

Command examples

./.claude/skills/prepare-release-publishing/scripts/prepare-release-publishing.sh patch
./.claude/skills/prepare-release-publishing/scripts/prepare-release-publishing.sh minor
./.claude/skills/prepare-release-publishing/scripts/prepare-release-publishing.sh major
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
