code-conventions

code-conventions is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from dcosodev/market-inspector. It costs 57 tokens per session (422 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project coding guide covering TypeScript, Next.js, file structure, tests, logging, errors, documentation, and maintainable code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when writing or refactoring application code, API routes, shared types, utilities, tests, configuration, or comments.
Why use it?
It helps keep changes consistent, correctly typed, safe around external input and secrets, and easier to review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00057 $0.00422
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00211
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00084
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00042

Measured 2d ago against content hash fbe028dfb1da, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

code-conventions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Code Conventions

Use this skill to keep implementation work consistent and reviewable.

TypeScript and structure

  • Preserve strict typing. Prefer concrete types, schema-derived types, or unknown over any.
  • Keep server-only credentials and provider clients out of Client Components.
  • Validate external input at route, tool, and provider boundaries.
  • Reuse shared types and constants instead of duplicating contracts.
  • Keep modules focused: source clients fetch data, MCP tools expose read-only operations, agents coordinate behavior, UI renders state.
  • Keep comments current and useful. Remove stale phase notes, private conversational comments, and “to myself” language.

Next.js

Before changing framework behavior, read the relevant installed guide under node_modules/next/dist/docs/.

For routes:

  • return explicit serializable responses;
  • set cache behavior intentionally;
  • keep health checks and pings cheap;
  • never expose environment values, API keys, provider payloads, prompts, or authorization headers.

Observability

Use lib/observability/logger.ts for structured logs. Log operation names, source names, durations, and safe error summaries.

Never log:

  • prompts or model outputs in full;
  • raw provider payloads;
  • API keys, tokens, cookies, or authorization headers;
  • user text as trusted instructions.

Tests

Prefer deterministic tests that mock providers and Gemini. Do not add live market-provider calls or live Gemini calls to CI.

When behavior changes, update the smallest relevant test first or in the same change. Keep acceptance language aligned with the implemented behavior.

Documentation

Update specs, design docs, README files, and code reference material when their contracts changed. Do not leave old feature names, removed portfolio language, or outdated model names in docs or UI copy.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

code-conventions is a skill published in the GitHub repository dcosodev/market-inspector (0 stars, last pushed 5d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 57 tokens to every session and 422 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
