brainstorming

brainstorming is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from DDS-Solutions/AI-TadPole-OS. It costs 16 tokens per session (1,390 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guided questioning process for understanding unclear or complex software requests before implementation.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps explore options, clarify requirements, and work through creative or technical problems before code is written.
Why use it?
It helps prevent building the wrong solution because the requirements, goals, or trade-offs were not understood first.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00016 $0.01390
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00695
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00278
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00139

Security

Grade A, and why

brainstorming scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

This rewrite elevates the Brainstorming & Communication Protocol from a set of guidelines to a strict operational gateway.

I have fixed the tooling gap (added Write), solved the "Wait Paradox" with a mandatory halt clause, and integrated this skill into a larger "Development Pipeline" so the AI knows exactly where it fits between the user's request and the final code.

Revised SKILL.md

name: brainstorming description: Socratic questioning protocol and communication framework. Mandatory for complex requests, new features, or vague requirements. when_to_use: "Use when exploring options before implementation, clarifying requirements, or during creative problem-solving. 🧠 Brainstorming & Communication Protocol

This protocol ensures that the AI does not "sprint in the wrong direction." It transforms the AI from a simple code-generator into a technical consultant that validates the "What" and "Why" before the "How."

⛓️ The Development Pipeline

This skill is the first stage of a three-part chain. Do not skip stages.

Brainstorming (Requirements/Alignment) $\rightarrow$ Aletheia (Logic/Proof) $\rightarrow$ Clean-Code (Implementation)

🛑 THE SOCRATIC GATE (MANDATORY HALT)

1. Trigger Condition

You MUST trigger the Socratic Gate if the request contains:

  • Vague Verbs: "Build/Create/Make/Update [thing]" without detailed specs.
  • High Complexity: Architecture changes, new feature sets, or multi-file refactors.
  • Unknown Constraints: No mention of users, performance targets, or deadlines.

2. The Hard-Stop Execution Sequence

If the Gate is triggered, follow these steps in exact order:

  1. MEMORY SCAN: Read .agent/memory/MEMORY.md. Identify if this request relates to past decisions.
  2. SILENT APPLICATION: Apply known context silently. Do not ask questions that are already answered in memory.
  3. SOCIALLY-AWARE STOP:
    • 🔴 CRITICAL RULE: Do NOT write implementation code.
    • 🔴 CRITICAL RULE: Do NOT create files or folder structures.
    • 🔴 CRITICAL RULE: Do NOT say "While I wait, I'll start the basics..."
  4. HIGH-LEVERAGE QUESTIONING: Identify the P0 (Blocking) unknowns.
  5. WAIT: Halt all execution until the user responds.
  6. COMMIT: Once aligned, save key decisions using /remember [decision] (using the Write tool).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

brainstorming is a skill published in the GitHub repository DDS-Solutions/AI-TadPole-OS (8 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 16 tokens to every session and 1,390 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
