zustand-patterns

zustand-patterns is a skill for Claude Code from DDS-Solutions/AI-TadPole-OS. It costs 28 tokens per session (858 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to organising Zustand state stores in React applications. Zustand is a library for keeping shared application state; these patterns cover smaller state slices, targeted subscriptions, and actions used outside components.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or refactoring frontend stores, splitting state into slices, choosing selectors, or updating state outside React components.
Why use it?
It helps prevent components from updating when unrelated state changes and reduces bugs caused by poorly synchronised shared state. It also provides a consistent structure for large stores.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: allowed-tools in frontmatter.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is **Workflow Binding**: Used during [`/refactor`](../../workflows/refactor.md) and [`/ui-ux-pro-max`](../../workflows/ui-ux-pro-max.md)..

Good fit Use it when creating or refactoring frontend stores, splitting state into slices, choosing selectors, or updating state outside React components.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00858
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00343
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00172
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

zustand-patterns scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/zustand_auditor.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

🎯 Progressive Disclosure & L3 Reference Index

Read REQUIRED core standards below; consult deep L3 Reference Guides on demand:

L3 Reference Guide / Tool Purpose Trigger / When to Load
references/zustand_slices_and_selectors.md Slice pattern templates, useShallow multi-selector recipes, outside-component updates Creating new stores or refactoring multi-property component hooks
scripts/zustand_auditor.py Deterministic scanner for whole-store destructuring anti-patterns Auditing frontend component trees or self-test verification

🏛️ Core Architectural Invariants

  1. Atomic Selector Subscriptions: Never destructure directly from useStore(). Always pass an explicit selector: useStore(state => state.property).
  2. Shallow Multi-Select: When selecting multiple fields, use useShallow from zustand/react/shallow to avoid re-rendering on identical object shapes.
  3. Immutability Invariant: Treat state as strictly immutable. Use spread operators or Immer middleware; never mutate state objects in place.
  4. Decoupled Actions: Expose actions as discrete methods on the store or slice rather than ad-hoc inline setters.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

zustand-patterns is a skill published in the GitHub repository DDS-Solutions/AI-TadPole-OS (8 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 858 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-18.
