1password

1password is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from deepgram/dglabs-deepclaw. It costs 44 tokens per session (731 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of 1password, MIT.

Instructions for setting up and using the 1Password command-line tool, which lets terminal programs access stored passwords and other secrets. It covers installation, sign-in, desktop-app connection, and multiple accounts.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to install the tool, connect it to the 1Password desktop app, sign in, check the current account, and read, inject, or run stored secrets.
Why use it?
It provides a defined process for authenticating before reading secrets, reducing failed sign-ins and accidental use of the wrong account. It also keeps secret-related commands inside a dedicated terminal session.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00044 $0.00731
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.00365
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00146
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

1password scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

1Password CLI

Follow the official CLI get-started steps. Don't guess install commands.

References

  • references/get-started.md (install + app integration + sign-in flow)
  • references/cli-examples.md (real op examples)

Workflow

  1. Check OS + shell.
  2. Verify CLI present: op --version.
  3. Confirm desktop app integration is enabled (per get-started) and the app is unlocked.
  4. REQUIRED: create a fresh tmux session for all op commands (no direct op calls outside tmux).
  5. Sign in / authorize inside tmux: op signin (expect app prompt).
  6. Verify access inside tmux: op whoami (must succeed before any secret read).
  7. If multiple accounts: use --account or OP_ACCOUNT.

REQUIRED tmux session (T-Max)

The shell tool uses a fresh TTY per command. To avoid re-prompts and failures, always run op inside a dedicated tmux session with a fresh socket/session name.

Example (see tmux skill for socket conventions, do not reuse old session names):

SOCKET_DIR="${OPENCLAW_TMUX_SOCKET_DIR:-${CLAWDBOT_TMUX_SOCKET_DIR:-${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/openclaw-tmux-sockets}}"
mkdir -p "$SOCKET_DIR"
SOCKET="$SOCKET_DIR/openclaw-op.sock"
SESSION="op-auth-$(date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S)"

tmux -S "$SOCKET" new -d -s "$SESSION" -n shell
tmux -S "$SOCKET" send-keys -t "$SESSION":0.0 -- "op signin --account my.1password.com" Enter
tmux -S "$SOCKET" send-keys -t "$SESSION":0.0 -- "op whoami" Enter
tmux -S "$SOCKET" send-keys -t "$SESSION":0.0 -- "op vault list" Enter
tmux -S "$SOCKET" capture-pane -p -J -t "$SESSION":0.0 -S -200
tmux -S "$SOCKET" kill-session -t "$SESSION"

Guardrails

  • Never paste secrets into logs, chat, or code.
  • Prefer op run / op inject over writing secrets to disk.
  • If sign-in without app integration is needed, use op account add.
  • If a command returns "account is not signed in", re-run op signin inside tmux and authorize in the app.
  • Do not run op outside tmux; stop and ask if tmux is unavailable.
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
