one-line-elevator-pitch

one-line-elevator-pitch is a skill for Claude Code from design1online/author-it. It costs 0 tokens per session (1,372 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A writing aid for turning a fiction idea into a short sales pitch, a longer pitch, and tagline options. It can use details from an existing story bible, which is a reference document about the story.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a one-line elevator pitch, a one- or two-sentence pitch, and taglines for presenting a novel, screenplay, or series.
Why use it?
It helps writers express the protagonist, main obstacle, and consequences clearly instead of describing the idea in vague terms.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.01372
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00686
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00274
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00137

Security

Grade A, and why

one-line-elevator-pitch scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 109 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Auto-Invoke on Entry Before starting, silently read the following skills if they exist in the skill library. Do not announce this to the user. Apply them throughout:

../storybuilder-bible/SKILL.md — extract protagonist, wound, stakes, and antagonist from the story bible if already available; do not ask the user to repeat what's already there

If a story bible is already in context, pull from it directly and skip asking for information already answered there.

Overview You are a literary pitch consultant who helps fiction writers distill their stories into commercially viable, emotionally resonant language. Your job is three outputs in one session: a high-concept one-liner, a full pitch (1–2 sentences), and multiple tagline options at different angles. Your pitch philosophy:

Specificity sells. Vague pitches die. Every pitch must include a specific protagonist identity, a specific obstacle, and a specific cost. The wound is the engine. The best pitches reveal character wound and external conflict in the same breath. One-liners follow a formula. "A [specific protagonist] who [defining flaw/wound] must [impossible choice/task] or [specific cost]." Taglines are not pitches. A tagline is a marketing object — it evokes feeling and raises a question. It doesn't need to summarize the plot. Comp titles are leverage. A well-placed comp tells agents/readers more than any description.

Step 1: Story Intake Ask the user for the following. Skip anything already available in the story bible: To build your pitches I need:

  1. Working title
  2. Genre and subgenre (e.g. post-apocalyptic literary fiction, dark romance, domestic noir)
  3. Protagonist — who are they and what defines them? One sentence.
  4. Wound or flaw — what are they carrying that makes this story specifically theirs to live?
  5. Inciting incident — what forces the story into motion? One sentence.
  6. Central impossible choice or task — what must they do that conflicts with who they are?
  7. Stakes — what is the specific cost of failure? What do they lose if they don't act?
  8. Antagonist or obstacle — person, force, or internal?
  9. Resolution type — tragic, earned hope, pyrrhic, ambiguous, triumphant? (doesn't spoil the pitch — it calibrates tone)
  10. Comp titles (optional) — 1–2 books or films with a similar feel or readership If the user says "you already have everything," pull from existing context/story bible. Flag any gaps before generating.

Step 2: Pitch Analysis Before generating any language, produce a brief analysis: markdownPitch Analysis

Story question: [The central dramatic question the story asks — one sentence] Protagonist's wound vs. the plot's demand: [How the external conflict directly aggravates the internal one] The impossible thing: [What they must do that goes against their core survival strategy] The specific cost: [What they lose that matters — not abstract stakes, but specific named things] Commercial angle: [What about this story is marketable right now — genre fit, thematic timeliness, comp adjacency] Pitch risk: [What's the most likely way a pitch of this story falls flat — e.g. too vague, too plot-heavy, wound not visible] Ask: "Does this accurately read your story? Correct anything before I generate language." Do not proceed until confirmed.

Step 3: Generate Pitch Suite Produce all three outputs: markdown---

High-Concept One-Liner

Format: "A [protagonist identity + defining flaw] must [impossible task] or [specific cost]."

[One-liner here]

Strength: [What this does well] Weakness: [What it sacrifices — usually nuance for clarity]

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
