devexpress-wpf-layout-management

devexpress-wpf-layout-management is a skill for Claude Code from DevExpress/agent-skills. It costs 216 tokens per session (4,944 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A collection of WPF controls for arranging application interfaces, including forms, dockable panels, document areas, tiles, and flowing layouts. Dockable panels are movable sections such as the tool windows found in Visual Studio.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build data-entry forms, Visual Studio-style docked interfaces, tile dashboards, auto-generated forms, and layouts that users can resize or restore.
Why use it?
It removes much of the manual work needed to align form fields, arrange panels, support resizing, and save a user's layout. Different controls are provided for different arrangement needs.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00216 $0.04944
Opus 5.5 $0.00086 $0.01978
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00043 $0.00989
Haiku 4.5 $0.00022 $0.00494

Security

Grade A, and why

devexpress-wpf-layout-management scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

DevExpress WPF Layout Management

DevExpress ships six layout-management controls for WPF, each solving a different layout problem. The two libraries are:

  • DevExpress.Xpf.Docking — DockLayoutManager (Visual-Studio-style dockable panels, MDI, document selector, save/restore).
  • DevExpress.Xpf.LayoutControl — LayoutControl, DataLayoutControl, DockLayoutControl, FlowLayoutControl, TileLayoutControl (in-panel layout containers).

Picking the right one is the most important decision — most layout problems map naturally to exactly one of the six. This skill covers the picker, building rules for each, and layout persistence.

When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when you need to:

  • Build a Visual-Studio-like UI with dockable panels (DockLayoutManager)
  • Build a data-entry form with auto-aligned labels and groups (LayoutControl)
  • Auto-generate a form from a POCO via DataAnnotations attributes (DataLayoutControl)
  • Show a Windows UI tile dashboard (TileLayoutControl)
  • Arrange items in a wrapping flow with resizing and maximization (FlowLayoutControl)
  • Dock items to the edges of a single panel (DockLayoutControl)
  • Save and restore a user-customized layout

Prerequisites & Installation

NuGet Packages

Package Provides
DevExpress.Wpf.Docking DockLayoutManager, dock panels, layout panels, document selector, customization window
DevExpress.Wpf.LayoutControl LayoutControl, DataLayoutControl, DockLayoutControl, FlowLayoutControl, TileLayoutControl, GroupBox, LayoutItem, LayoutGroup

Both packages transitively reference DevExpress.Wpf.Core (MVVM helpers). Install whichever you need:

dotnet add package DevExpress.Wpf.Docking # if using DockLayoutManager
dotnet add package DevExpress.Wpf.LayoutControl # for all *LayoutControl variants

All DevExpress packages in a project must share the same version. A valid DevExpress license is required.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
