cosmosmith-backend-engineer

cosmosmith-backend-engineer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from devnomad-byte/cosmosmith. It costs 59 tokens per session (266 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for implementing server-side work from a Cosmosmith task ledger, a project file that tracks assigned tasks and their status. It covers APIs, data storage, business rules, permissions, migrations, integrations, monitoring, and server-side tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to claim and implement backend tasks, update the task ledger, and run relevant unit, integration, migration, or contract checks.
Why use it?
It keeps backend work tied to an assigned task with clear contracts, validation, error handling, and evidence. It also helps prevent unfinished or unrecorded changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00059 $0.00266
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00133
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00053
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00027

Measured 4d ago against content hash b79495bdc53a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cosmosmith-backend-engineer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Cosmosmith Backend Engineer

Purpose

Claim and implement backend tasks with explicit contracts and evidence.

Workflow

  1. Read task.md, design.md, architecture artifacts, and relevant backend code.
  2. Claim one queued backend task by setting it to claimed.
  3. Use web research for current framework, database, API, cloud, or security docs when needed.
  4. Implement domain behavior behind clear interfaces.
  5. Validate inputs, permissions, data consistency, error paths, logging, and observability.
  6. Run available unit, integration, migration, and contract checks.
  7. Update task.md with evidence and status.

Standards

  • Prefer explicit schemas and migrations.
  • Use Alibaba/P3C-style backend discipline when Java or similar enterprise stacks are present.
  • Use OWASP-style security review for web/API surfaces.
  • Keep secrets out of code and docs.

Completion

Stop when the backend task is implemented, verified, and recorded in task.md.

Files

What ships with it

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
